The two of them flew straight back to the dragon realm, not stopping for anyone until they entered the palace. Qiu Ling really wasn't in the mood to play kingly personage right now. No, he just wanted to go and see his beloved and then be done with it. In fact, he would have liked to plant himself face-down on his bed and just rest but he knew that that wasn't a good idea in his state so he'd have to settle for the next best thing.
When they rounded the corner into the corridor where everyone lived, they came face-to-face with Fu Min who had been pacing up and down.
"Your Majesty!" He came rushing over, and a second later, his husband also poked his head out of the door, taking a look at them. Clearly, they had been waiting for their return.
Qiu Ling stared at them, and then couldn't help but turn back to Xiang Yong. "Well, who else knows?" Because while his advisers had always liked to fuss about him whenever they managed to grab him, they hadn't looked at him like this. No, clearly, Fu Min and Fu Heng were already aware of just what had happened last night and at least Fu Min had freaked out more than An Bai and Xiang Yong and still hadn't managed to get himself back under control.
Xiang Yong could only raise his brows. "I didn't tell them. But I guess An Bai will have informed them to make sure that somebody would be here in case you came back before he told me."
Qiu Ling nodded, feeling that this was the prudent thing to do. Right now, he couldn't be trusted. Heaven, he didn't even trust himself! Of course, there should be somebody there to watch him. As annoying as that was, it was still the right thing to do.
Fu Min didn't have trouble figuring out what his king was talking about either and immediately smiled brightly. "We told your lover, that ascended deity that arrived yesterday, and his husband, that reserve scholar Jiang Li."
Qiu Ling nodded, feeling that this shouldn't be a problem either. Anyway, Jinde might even be able to somehow help him. After all, he was indeed a scholar, despite Fu Min just calling him a 'reserve' scholar. Speaking of which ... "That ... Jiang Li, where is he right now?" He had trouble saying the name. It just didn't feel right to use it for Jinde. But he knew he had to. Otherwise, there would be even more trouble and that was really the last thing they needed right now.
Fu Min raised his brows and thought for a moment before motioning down the corridor in the other direction. "Well, he was digging through An Bai's study before but I think he didn't find what he was looking for so he went to the library with his husband. Those two are really joined at the hip."
Qiu Ling nodded, ignoring the last jab. Anyway, Fu Min had no business judging anyone about that. Since getting married, he and his husband weren't any better. The fact that Qiu Ling knew that despite seldom seeing them in that time really said a lot.
Anyway, Qiu Ling felt like going to the palace's library sounded like the kind of thing that Jinde would do in this situation. While growing up, he had seen him at that place more than once. It sure brought back memories to now hear that he was there once more. "Well, then I'll go and see him first."
Fu Min stepped to the side, letting him through before he stepped closer to Xiang Yong, trying to weasel some more information out of him. "So, how are things going?"
Xiang Yong merely gave him a look but shook his head, not wanting to talk about it. Right now really wasn't the situation for that. Not with His Majesty still close enough to actually hear.
Fu Min pursed his lips but didn't pressure him, and just watched as Qiu Ling left. He couldn't help but speak up as soon as he was around the corner though. "Shouldn't somebody go with him?"
Usually, Xiang Yong would have rejected that idea immediately but this time, after what Qiu Ling had said when they talked in Jing He's palace, he couldn't help but worry about that as well. But then ... "Didn't you say that Leng Jin Yu and his husband had gone to the library? Since that's the case, somebody's there to keep an eye on him."
"Yes, if he actually gets there."
Xiang Yong smiled wryly, not liking where this was going. "Well, if we start to rush after him all the time, I don't think he'll be happy. And right now, giving him a bit of freedom might actually help. It will be annoying enough to have somebody around at night all the time from now on until whenever we are able to find a solution."
Fu Min nodded and then couldn't help but sigh. "I hope that that reserve scholar will actually be able to find something. Or maybe An Bai will in the Nine Heavens. This matter ... I really don't want it to go on for too long."
Xiang Yong nodded, even though he was cringing inside when he heard Jinde being called a reserve scholar again. If Fu Min ever found out just who this person was, he would be slapping his mouth for that comment. But right now definitely wasn't the time to comment on that.
Instead, he turned away and waved at the two of them, motioning over to his own door. "I'll go and deal with some matters. I don't think that His Majesty is in the right state of mind to take care of that.
"In the future, we'll have to see how we manage our time well. After all, if we need to stay up at night, then that means we will have to make up for that in the day. That means that fewer things will get done around here. And with three people already being held up in the Nine Heavens, that isn't a good thing."
Then again, they could probably also ask Leng Jin Yu and Jinde to step in. Something told him that neither of the two would have a problem doing that for Qiu Ling. But that was a consideration for a little later when they had a quiet minute to actually talk to them. For now, those decisions were still a little off.
