Chapter 14: Hunters Talk

By the time we make it back to my house we just sit there for a moment.
"I'm going to miss you."
I whisper trying not to break down.
"It'll be okay." Says Hunter. Don't be so upset.
We walk to the door and my mom was in the kitchen doing dishes.
"Mom, we're back. Hunter wants to talk to you about something."
Hunter walks towards my mom and by the way he was acting, I knew he wanted it to be in private. So I walk off and go upstairs into my room and just sit on my bed. Thinking. And before I knew it, I felt tears running across my cheeks.
*meanwhile downstairs*
" Mrs. Shannon, I been wanting to talk to you about something. Today's my last day here. And I was was wondering if you could trust her with me. I'm going to Nashville tomorrow and I wouldn't mind having her with me. The past could of days I've spent with your daughter, have just been amazing. I've stood up for her and I would always be there for her. But, can she?"
"Hunter, my daughter's been in love with for the longest. She seemed upset when you guys walked in."
"She doesn't know I might be bringing her with me. She told me how much she was going to miss me. "
"Oh, makes sense. But, if I let her go, you have to promise me you'll keep her safe and not let anything happen to her. How long?"
"I'm resuming my tour the day after tomorrow. And since it's summer, kind of for the rest of the tour?"
It took her a minute.
"Bring my baby girl back in one piece. She may be an adult but I still care for her. Now, go up there and tell her. Is she spending the night with you guys tonight and then you guys are leaving in the morning?"
"Yeah,we're leaving around 4. And thank you so much. I promise I'll bring her back in one piece haha."
"Ya'll have fun. Be safe. And go tell her."
