Megan's POV

I walked downstairs inside Normani's home, towards the living room. She had fallen asleep on the couch watching anime which she never did unless I was at her house; she found comfort in it as watching it reminded her of me. I hovered over her, thinking, then gently pushed her hair out of her face. Our friendship has gotten a tad bit complicated when Mani confessed her feeling for me since I was infatuated then with Beyoncé, and I blew Mani off. I let out a deep sigh as I sat down next to her, placing her hands in mine and kissed them lightly. I started to go back upstairs when I heard her groan, I turned around to see her looking at me.

"Where're you going, Meggy?" she asked sleepily. "I saw you over here."

A tight lipped smile spread on my face. "Hey, Mani, I was going to check on the twins, see if Hazel and Nella are awake. You okay?" I asked after noticing tears were forming in her eyes. I walked back over to her, sitting down quickly and then placed my hands on her cheeks.

"I—" she erupted in tears, choking on her words. "I had a dream, Megan."

"About what, Normani? Tell me."

"I had a dream that you were dead, that—that she hurt you, Megan. That she killed you, and it felt so real and I tried to stop her, Meggy, but I couldn't and I couldn't get to you; all I could do was watch as it happened."

The pain in her now red eyes was adamant and all I could do was comfort her. "I'm here, Mani, I'm here. I'm right here, see? I'm okay and I'm here right now with you. Nothing is going to happen to me," I reassured her and myself simultaneously. "I promise I'm not going anywhere."

I hugged her as tightly as I could and kissed her forehead. I wish I could do more to comfort her and ease her worry but hugging her was all I could do.

"I want you to go to the police, and have her put away. Your bruises are proof of the abuse Megan," she said.

Just as I was about to respond, I noticed Hazel walking into the living room. She'd gotten so big even since the last time I saw her and I felt like I missed out on my babies growing.

"Mama Meg? When did you get here?" she asked.

My head shot back in surprise at how literate she sounded, only a couple months had passed since the last time I saw the twins and they already sounded older.

"Good morning Mommy; what happened to your eye Mama Meg?" she asked concerned bringing her small hand to my face.

I glanced at Mani and she shook her head. "I...um...I fell at home and got hurt. But I missed you, my baby!" I exclaimed pulling her into a hug.

"Are you sure you fell? But I missed you tooo! Can you promise you won't leave again for that long?" she asked after pulling back from me.

"I promise you I will never leave you again, Hazel bear. Never."

I allowed my promises made to set in. I could've lost my life if I hadn't gotten away, I could've lost my life and never saw my family again. I had to make the promise that they would never lose me because I had got away from Beyoncé and her abuse. I was here for them now and I had no plan on leaving them, ever.

"Well good because you missed my play; I had my own lines and everything! I was Dorothy and Nella was the Cowardly Lion....I don't think she liked that role very much," she laughed with her cheeks starting to turn rose red. "Mama?"

"Yes baby?" I answered worriedly.

"Where's Beyoncé, she always with you. Can we go see her?"

"Well uh, Hazel, we can't go see Bey anymore. She's done some bad things and I'm a little upset with her so I'm not speaking with her anymore. Do you understand?"
