23: The Lucky One

Author's Note: Don't focus on the exact dates of the award show etc. This doesn't fall exact dates but just events! Lastly, I have around 2 or 3 more chapters left before the ending of this story. How do you know when the person you're with is the one you're going to be with for the rest of your life? It's impossible to actually pin point it since there are different points where people finally realize that their significant other is the one. It's a scary thing to pick just one person and that is the person you're going to be with for the rest of your life. Because what happens when things fail? When you fall out of love? When they fall out of love? What is the real telling sign. If there even is any.

Jennifer knew she wanted to marry David. It wasn't even a question anymore it was a confirmed thought in her mind that this relationship is it for her. With nothing else in her mind she is sure already about the choice she will make if David happens to ask her to be his wife. The question of when is the thing that pops into her mind, or if he will ever ask her the question. They have been dating now for a couple of months, they mentioned it here and there but nothing concrete. It was always about how lucky and blessed they are.

"Lunch for Miss Aniston." David put a plate right in front of her and smiled which in turn made her smile wider. It's moments like these she knew she could spend forever like this. She knew that this, him, is everything. "What's on your mind?" David took a bite of his food. Jennifer didn't reply. "Honey?" David asked again.

"It's just crazy to me how quickly everything changed for us." Jennifer started. "One second we were in separate relationships the next we're in one together. Don't you think about that?" Jennifer asked.

"No I don't." David shook his head.

"Why not?"

"Why would I? I mean, if I do think about that past all that would be in my head is how I wish we woke up earlier." Jennifer smiled. "But, I don't think about how quick things changed because I like the change. I find when I think about it a lot it means that I see something wrong or I'm questioning the good things I have." He honestly spoke.

"Well I'm not questioning this I was just thinking." Jennifer replied quickly. "It just feels too good to be true."

"I know, but I think at the same time everything was supposed to happen the way it did."

"Really?"

"There is such a thing as right timing I think. I don't like the circumstances we put ourselves and people into but if that meant I would be this happy with you? I'd take that."

"I love you." Jennifer said. "I feel like I say that too much but it's true."

"I'll never get tired of hearing that." David smiled and the couple began to eat.

For David there certainly was. It had been a week now since their engagement and their first public appearance as an engaged couple at the People's Choice Awards are tonight. Not including the fact that the public has been speculating their engagement. But frankly David hasn't been focusing on that aspect, he's so in the moment of seeing his fiancé play with their dogs in the back yard near the pool. Hearing her laugh and just seeing how she loves the life she has and the life they are going to build together. He was just sitting in one of the loungers watching everything happen and couldn't keep a smile off his face.

"What's gotten you all smiling?" Jennifer asked as she sat on David's seat with him.

"You." He kissed her cheek lovingly. She laughed hearing his response. It could be years together and Jennifer still can't believe that this is her reality over their rough start as a couple. "And this." David picked up her left hand to see her engagement ring on it. The ring shining in the sun light.
