Mollie recognised Paul's car immediately. Louise was beside her, excitedly babbling about George Harrison, and Mollie wanted nothing more than to tell her friend about who was picking her up - but she couldn't.

She had promised Paul.

Instead, Mollie said goodbye to Louise and went over to the car, getting in the backseat. It wasn't until she had strapped herself in that she looked up and saw that it was only Paul in the car. He was looking at her using the rearview mirror.

"What're you sitting there for?"

"Um, where's Abby?" Mollie asked, looking pointedly at the empty seat.

Paul thought for a few seconds. He could tell the little girl about how her sister was ill, but that might have worried her - so instead he decided to lie... or delay the truth momentarily, anyway. He wanted Abby to get some more rest, so looking after Mollie for a bit was what he could do to help and to make that happen.

"I asked Abby if I could get you by myself today." Paul paused, twisting around in his seat before he continued talking, "thought you and me could have some fun before I take you home?"

Mollie grinned.

"Good girl," Paul praised, "why don't you jump in the front with me?"

Mollie unstrapped herself and then climbed over the centre console, sitting down beside Paul and strapping herself in again.

"I'm so excited, Paul!" She cried, clapping her hands together. There she was with a Beatle - an actual Beatle!

This was better than when Abby came to pick her up with Paul because she was alone with him!

Paul started the car and began to drive away from the school.

"So wha'd you fancy doing?" He asked her. "I was thinking ice-cream?"

Giddily, the little girl nodded. She was going to get ice-cream with Paul McCartney!

When they got the ice-cream shop, Paul parked outside. He got out of the car and then came round to open Mollie's door, bowing like a footman would for a princess.

Mollie couldn't help but grin as Paul took her hand and led her into the shop.

"Get whatever you want," he told her. He turned to the woman who was waiting to serve them, "I'll have whatever she's having."

The woman nodded and looked at the little girl, who took her own sweet time deciding what ice-cream she wanted!

Paul carried the two ice-creams over to the table where Mollie was waiting and then he went back to pay the woman.

He dug around in his wallet and pulled out a few notes - what he gave the server probably would have covered the cost of the desserts twice over. She tried to give him back the change but he refused to take it. He returned to Mollie, who had already dug in.

She had ice-cream all over her face and her smile stretched from ear-to-ear.

Paul, rather stupidly, sat facing the window of the shop. He didn't really think too much about it - but when two teenage girls walked past and pointed at him through the glass, he groaned.

"What?" Mollie asked, "are you okay, Paul?"

He replied, "we'll have to go, Mol. I'm sorry but I've been recognised."

She frowned. "By who?"

"Those two girls out there." Paul gestured to them, trying not to make his movement too obvious - but the girls caught it, and were giggling and gawking at him.
