Things were healing.
Things were getting better.
Ollie and Vee could never really stay away from each other.
Both because they were constantly in the same house, whether that was at Eunoia or Ollie's house. And the magnetic pull which seemed to keep them forever longing for one another surely didn't help them avoid one another.
Ollie seemed clingier than usual, though Vee didn't seem to mind.
The brunette would follow her everywhere, desperate to show Vee cool rocks or flowers she found outside. Just desperate for any form of attention or acknowledgement.
Their situation was manageable for Vee. She could handle the emotional distance.
As long as Ollie was physically nearby, she didn't require the extra fond motions. Vee found comfort in suppressing any romantic intentions she felt within. As long as the two were together, Vee didn't need to ruin everything. She was content. After all, if love was sacrifice, she could sacrifice whatever she had with Ollie.
Her romantic feelings for Ollie never really went away, however she allowed herself to be aware of this. She found it easier to acknowledge the feelings, and acknowledge the fact she could never act on them. She would never act on them. For both of their sakes.
Ollie, on the other hand, could not have been handling this worse.
Most days, Ollie suppressed everything.
But she couldn't seem to drown out her feelings for Vee without draining every bit of her.
All life seemed constantly drained from her, her eyebags seemed more prominent, and the only time you could sense even a spark of life in the girl was when she was around Vee, and even then, her usually vibrant personality seemed forced and tainted.
On the days she couldn't suppress her feelings, they instantly became overwhelming, resulting in Ollie completely shattering.
Vee was an addiction in the best possible way. Every slight interaction flooded Ollie's system until she wanted to explode. But Ollie would be content with life if she died of an overdose, she meant what she said: as long as Vee was there, she'd be okay.
But Vee wasn't always there.

After finding out what happened, the group grew tense, though they never broke apart. A month passed, and then two.
Time seemed to blur together, and eventually things went back to normal.
Tommy left for the UK, and Ollie no longer had a distraction for her growing urges. There was no longer a blockage to prevent Vee from consuming the brunette's every thought.Ollie looked around the house mournfully, memories of her parents leaving her feel utterly numb. Not quite sure how to feel about anything anymore. Vee cleared her head, Vee allowed her to feel.
But Vee wasn't there, and she was empty.
Her fingertips felt numb as she gently lay the last of her belongings into her suitcase.
Nodding contently, Ollie turned to take one last look at the empty house around her. She didn't sell it, she couldn't.
Negative memories would always have connotations. And Ollie knew she could never get rid of the last place she ever saw Olive.
Ollie lugged her suitcase outside, finding Iris and Quackity bickering in the front seat, Ranboo trying not to laugh as he tried to reason between the two. Vee opened up the trunk, avoiding eye contact with Ollie as she awkwardly took the luggage from the brunette, putting it in the trunk.
Ollie felt herself freeze slightly as the blonde's fingertips grazed her own, wanting to crumble in on herself.
But she pushed that aside, allowing herself into the car, allowing herself to focus on the landscape which passed by through the window instead of the blonde who was pressed up against her side, sitting awkwardly in the middle seat as the three teens attempted to squeeze together in the back seat.
Goodbyes came and went, and in all honesty, Ollie turned them out, knowing she'd completely shatter if she allowed herself to remember their farewells.
They'd see each other again. They all would.
And Ollie refused to allow herself to feel any remorse for this stage of her life which she now left behind, as flight number 42 was called for Nottingham.(I have zero clue where people live in the UK so just roll with it, if that's not where they live maybe Ollie's just going on a wee little road trip around Britain)
