Chapter Twenty

"Alright, sweetheart, relax for me." Nolena directs, as she begins to rub your exposed lower stomach, while you lay on the Avengers hospital bed. 

You take a few breathes, "Nolena, that is easier said then done." I sigh, frustrated, as my stomach begins to turn from my nerves and the smell of the medical cleaning supplies. I begin to look at the ceiling, as I feel I am going to have a panic attack.

Nolena looks up at me, "I understand you are nervous, Y/N. It's going to all be ok. I promise you." Nolena states, as she grabs your hand and lightly squeezes. I continue my breathing, as I slowly turn to look at her, as I feel tears begin to return to my eyes. I lay my head back again, looking at the ceiling. "I just, why, he has to be here for this. I can't do this without him, if we find a baby. How.." I sniff, as I begin to shake my head frustrated, "He didn't get the chance to even become a father. He or she won't ever know how incredible their father was." I begin to loose my composure, as my body begins to process my feelings of guilt, hope, anger, and confusion. As my body tries to process my emotions, a mild freezing sensation returns, lighter than before. I close my eyes and focus on the cold sensation. 

As I study the cold sensation, I feel that this time it is different. It doesn't hurt, but provides me a comfort that I desperately need.  

"Y/N?" Nolena states concerned, as she squeezes your hand. "Please, I need a minute." I reply, as I continue to keep my eyes closed, focusing on the cold sensation. "Keep with your breathes," Nolena directs, as she moves her hands back to my exposed lower stomach. As she rubs your lower stomach, she feels the cold sensation. "Oh!" Nolena gasps. She removes her hands and moves back for you to have a moment. 

You continue on the breathes, as you feel the cold sensation begin to intensify, but you don't cry out for warmth. You just continue to focus on the cold sensations as it returns to consume your body. 

You hear Nolena walking around and quickly feel a warm blanket cover you. You don't thank Nolena, but continue to just focus on the coldness. 

"Are you in any pain, Y/N?" I hear Nolena asks, as she stands next to my feet, at the end of the bed. 

"Not really," I state, as I continue to focus. "Well, if you are pregnant, I guess the baby's frost giant side is showing." She giggles, as she places a hand on your leg, to show she is still there for you. 

I giggle, "Oh, definitely." 

A few minutes later, you feel the cold sensation begin to leave, as your warm body temperature returns.

Nolena returns to stand next to you. You let out a sigh, "Ok, I'm ready." I state, as I adjust myself to be more comfortable. 

"Ok," Nolena replies, as she smiles you tenderly and nods. "Let's see if Y/N is pregnant, shall we!" She giggles in excitement, as she does a little dance. You both laugh and Nolena then turns to remove the blanket it from you. Once she places the blanket on the couch to your right, she quickly comes to your side and gives you a tender smile and then stands by your lower exposed stomach. 

As her hands return to your stomach, she begins to push lightly down onto your lower stomach. "Well, your uterus is hard as a rock, so first clue is a check," She states, as he focuses on your stomach and begins to remove her light pushes on your lower to stomach, to placing her hand on your stomach and a with a small shock sensation, an imagine appears above your lower stomach. 

Nolena and you both gasp with excitement, as a small baby the form of a peanut appears on the small blue cube screen. 

"Oh, my God." I gasp, as the shock begins to settle in, and tears begin to fall, I quickly form a huge smile across my face. "Here is your baby, Y/N", Nolena states in excitement, as she removes her hands from your stomach, the blue cube screen continues to rotate around. You watch as the peanut size baby moves a little, but not much.
