03: Birthday party

The sun began to set. The cloud's hue colored with both orange and red. I hurriedly walk back to the house before it gets dark, the wind grows colder as I take each step. 

The town people was still busy, some are even dressed which made me confused. Once I stepped a foot inside the house I saw my family in the dining table. Ines was wearing her blue dress and my older brother Cleo was also dressed too, so is mom and dad.

"What- why are you all dressed up?" I asked. Mom and dad looked at each other quietly before turning their heads back right at me. 

"Didn't you remember? It's Luisa's birthday and we have to go to the Madrigals." I let out a 'oh' in my mouth.

Was that why the townspeople were also dressed up?
Gosh, I have been busy playing with Antonio this afternoon that I forgot Isabela's invitation earlier.

I mentally facepalm. "I'm sorry but I'll be down in a minute. Wait for me!" I shouted as I rushed through my room upstairs. 

Clothes were flying everywhere across my room. I don't even have the time to choose better clothes to wear. Mom said it's Luisa's birthday so maybe I should wear something blue tonight. 

"Where is it?" i mumbled. Then I saw the box where I put it and let it out. It all happened so quick that I even forgot to comb my hair and when I reached downstairs, they were already gone.

Where'd they go? did they just left without me?

I searched the kitchen and even look for them in the bathroom but I saw no one. I let out a sigh and crossed my arms across my chest  and just decided to walk by myself.

Traitors.

I was fixing my hair while walking that I didn't even notice I've almost reached Casita. A few steps ahead, I saw Camilo greeting everyone by shapeshifting into them. A sudden panic rushed through me.

I forgot to buy a present for Luisa!

This time I literally facepalm, thinking of how much of a bad friend I am. Just then I was already in front of Camilo. He smirks and looked at me up and down. 

I so didn't need him right now.

"Nice dress, hermosa." he commented but I wasn't in the mood so I just walk pass by him, not giving a damn about his presence. 

I heard him whisper something but the crowd and the music was too loud for me to even hear it clearly.

My eyes were looking here and there, searching to where my family was until I saw Cleo waving his hands. I immediately ran up to him and punch him on the shoulders.

He looked at me with crossed eyebrows while rubbing his shoulders. I guess I punched it too hard, he deserved it anyway. 

"I think I just broke my bone." he says.

"Dramatic much? you were the ones who left me in the first place." I ranted, he let out a soft laugh.

"Hey, it wasn't my idea. Ines was whining so mama just decided for us to leave."

"And you didn't even wait for me? what kind of brother are you?" 

"Uh, an effortlessly handsome brother?" he says sarcastically.

"Ugh, you're just like Camilo." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"what exactly is it that we have in common?"

"You're both dramatic, annoying and flirty." he chuckled while I stood there still annoyed.

Just then a voice interrupted. "flirty?" I turned to see Camilo with his smirk. This boy be making smirking a habit. A deadly habit.

"I'd accept it if you only said dramatic and annoying, but flirty? How am I in anyway be a flirt?" he suddenly walks close and grab my waist. 

"That" I pointed at his arm wrapped around my waist. "And considering how many times you've used your charms to all the girls here in the whole Encanto, including my sister." I flick a finger on his hand in my waist causing him to pull it back.

"You're just jealous." he scoffed.

"Excuse me, what?" 

"Calling me a flirt just to cover up you're jealousy. Are we, hermosa?" he showed off his smug grin.

"Bold of you to assume that." I rolled my eyes. 

We both stared at each other intensely.

"Uhm, I'm still here, in case you forgot." Cleo butts in, slightly raising a hand. 

"Y/n!!" I heard Mirabel and Isabela's voice from afar, then I saw them walking towards me with Dolores and Luisa at the back.

I ran to them and hugged each one, completely ignoring my brother and Camilo in the side. 

"Glad you made it." Luisa then walks to me and grabs me into a tight embrace. I hug her back just as tight as she did. She gives the best bear hugs.

"That's unfair, I didn't get a hug." Camilo says sounding like a child having his tantrums, but I kept ignoring him. I heard Mirabel, Isabela and Dolores chuckled.

"Happy Birthday Luisa, I'm sorry I wasn't able to buy you a present."

"Oh, it's fine. I'm already thankful enough to see you here." she raises a smile and grabs me by the hand, and I saw Isabela, Mirabel and Dolores following us. "Come on, we wanted to ask you something." she whispered.

Huh? what are they going to ask me?
