37: Guilt

Y/n's POV

I woke up by the sunrays peering through the thin curtain of my window. I sat up and blinked a few times, looking to my side was the mirror. My eyes. It was obvious enough to know I cried almost the whole night. I just can't stop thinking about Camilo.

Man, I feel bad for him. (as you should be)

I sniffed as few teardrops starts dripping from my eyes. I wiped them all off quickly when I heard a knock on the door, for the first time in my life. "Come in." 

The door opened and dad went in, holding a tray of food. I furrowed my eyebrows as I fixed my sheets. "What's this for?" I asked him, he didn't say anything but just hugged me tightly. "Pa, what's going on? you're making me worry." I asked again but didn't get any answer from him, instead he just walked out of my room closing the door quietly.

O..kay, that was... unusual.

I blinked mindlessly and just shrug my shoulders. Maybe he's just being a dramatic father again, like he used to do but ugh!--nevermind. 

I began to eat the food from the tray dad just gave me before going to the bathroom to wash myself and change to my everyday clothes. I then head downstairs to see no one but myself in the quiet living room and the kitchen. It seemed everyone went back to sleep or head off to their chores.

I huffed and went outside only to be greeted by the burning sun, the weather's too hot to handle today. I wonder if Pepa's doing alright. I walked my way to the town square hoping to see mom who's now started selling bread. Just then it started to rain, the heavy downpour made my clothes almost completely drenched. I ran to the nearby shed and gripped my skirt to dry them off. 

The rain becomes heavier and it didn't seem to stop any minute. I removed my hair tie as my hair was also dripping wet. "Why does it have to rain this time?" I mumbled to myself as I started to shiver. Both my hands rubbing each side of my arms, hoping it would be enough to warm myself up.

I stayed in that state for a moment, watching the heavy downpour right infront of me until I felt someone's ruana being wrapped around me. 

I turned to my left to see Camilo only on his white polo, his hair was a bit wet. "So you won't catch any cold." he mumbled. I just stared at him in awe. Why does he have to be so sweet? I just made him cry yesterday.

He didn't say anything further and ran off to the rain before disappearing into the fog that was forming. I held a tight grip into his ruana and somehow I felt better and warmer. "Thanks Cami."

A FEW MINUTES LATER (brought to you by: softie Carlos)

The rain had stopped and my clothes were now dry, I was still holding Camilo's ruana. His scent on it reminded me how much I miss him so badly. The sun was now seen in the bright blue sky, people went out of their houses and I decided to head to the Madrigals' Casita.

The blue front door opened by itself and I was greeted by the moving tiles of the magical house. I sneezed out of nowhere and Casita immediately dragged me to the kitchen. Mirabel and Julieta greeted me with a warm smile. 

"You need some arepas?" Julieta asks and I nodded my head politely. She handed me one and I took a bite on it, now feeling a lot better.

I thanked her before letting Mirabel drag me out of the kitchen and into the living room. After a few seconds Dolores pops out of nowhere and gave me a worried look. "Do you know where Camilo is?" she asks.

I shook my head. "I mean I saw him earlier but I didn't know where he went afterwards." she nods her head weakly. "Why'd you ask?" I questioned. They both looked at each other before turning their gaze towards me.

"He didn't come home last night after you guys talked. Mama is worried about him." Dolores sighed. My lips parted and I realized he must be upset about yesterday. So that's also why the weather seemed weird earlier.

"I'm sorry, this was all my fault." I looked down and started fidgeting my fingers. Feeling guilty about how I just hurt someone I love. My eyes got warm again and I knew tears were about to fall down.

"It's none of your fault. You guys just love each other so much." Mirabel hugs me and began caressing my back. "We know you didn't intend to hurt his feelings." 

"But I just did." I sobbed on her shoulder and Dolores joined the hug. "Hush now, y/n. I'm sure everything's gonna be alright, you two will eventually be back on each other's arms again. You just need some time to clear things off and start over." she comforted. 

My sobs began to grow louder as I hugged them both tightly. I feel so stupid. I just made things worse than it already was. I feel so bad about Camilo, I should've forgiven him. Now all I feel was guilt. 

We broke the hug as we hear the front door creaked open and came in Camilo who also seemed tired. There were a few stains of dirt in his pants and that made me think where could've slept last night. 

Pepa rushed down and cupped his son's face and observed for any bruises. "Corazon where have you been??" she asked worriedly.

"I'm fine Mami, just slept on someone's backyard." he says tiredly and gently pushes his mom's hands away. Did he slept in our backyard? His eyes met mine and he looks at me in shock. 

I quickly averted my gaze, avoiding eye contact. "I-I have to go." I said to Mirabel and Dolores. They nodded their heads and I rushed out from the magical house but then stopped dead in my tracks. "Is y/n okay? she didn't catch any cold?" I heard him asking. I breakdown in tears as I began running to wherever my feet would take me.

A/N: Hey guys! just a short update for now. I'm sorry for making y/n playing hard to get or dramatic and all (I wanna kms right now 😭) I feel so bad for Camilo, I wish to go to jail. 

Anyways, only 3-4 chapters left, but I'm planning to write another book after this, Maybe Carlos x reader or somethin' like that. Hope you enjoyed! and thanks for the votes and reads. I didn't expect this one to blow up. ILYSM ❤❤.
