JI
"Zhubao, we have to leave," I urged, gripping her hand tightly, feeling the chill of her pale skin. "Maybe Zeyu can handle it..."
Her response was sharp, her voice filled with desperation and disbelief.
"Are you even listening to yourself?" she yelled, wrenching her hand away from mine. "Our son is missing, lost somewhere, and you want me to just let it go?"
I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her words pressing down on me. She was right.
"Fine," I said, my frustration palpable. "I know who took him, okay? Are you satisfied?"
"What?!"
I made a conscious effort to keep my voice steady, reminding myself of our roles as husband and wife. I couldn't afford to hurt her with my words, no matter how overwhelmed I felt. "Now, let's go and find Heike Keyi—"
"Ginagago mo ba ako, Ji, bakit hindi mo sinabi agad, tignan mo ang oras, kaninang nine'o clock pa ako nag-hahanap, and its past twelve at the noon na!" she yelled at instant that made me scratch the back of my head.
"Sorry na, okay, I was trying to tell you but hindi mo ako pinapakinggan..." I awkwardly smiled; I am really marupok when it comes to her.
"Hindi gagana 'yang baliko mo'ng paraan, Ji, tinatagalog mo ako kase gusto mo na mawala ang galit ko, ano ako tanga?" she pointed herself. "Hindi, dahil sakin nag-mana si Yong."
"What, anong sayo, saakin sya nag-mana ng talino, ang kapal naman ng face mo!" I pouted. "Hindi sayo sya magmana, saakin yun..."
She bursted into laughter that made me pout even more. "Mukha ka'ng tanga, love!"
"Aray, bakit mukhang tanga ako? wala naman akong nigagawa, ikaw nakakainis ka ha, lagi mo ako nitatawanan—"
She but her lower lip to hold back her laugh. "Bulol HAHAHAHA!!!"
I pouted, but smiled after I got an idea, I cupped her cheeks that made her snap back to her sense, then I captured her lips, she cannot deny that she is also marupok, because she responded the kiss right away.
AKO NA ITO EH!
Mahal ako ng asawa ko.
Yiee!
Gusto ko mag-smirk pero magugulo 'non ang kiss namin na maganda 'no!
Bakit nga pala ako nagtatagalog?
"Shall we go?" I asked as we broke away from the kiss, my mind already racing ahead to the next steps. "Heike Keyi is waiting for us there. Oh, and Zeyu, sorry about the scene..."
Zeyu, nonchalant as ever, shrugged off the tension with a mouthful of chips and a gulp of cola. "What scene? I thought it was a movie!"
I shot him a pointed look, irritation bubbling beneath the surface. "Yeah asshole, right. And when did you have time to get those snacks?"
Despite the distraction, we made our way to the new headquarters, Zeyu in tow. "What about his phone? Did he bring it with him?" Heike Keyi inquired as we arrived.
"I am not sure if he bought it or the kidnapper took the phone, it was a black phone and I don't know who owns it..." Zeyu said that made me think, it was Zuo Hang's phone.
"It was Hang's phone, he left it the time Yuhan took him from his bed because he had a hangover..." I spoke, "Track it..."
ZHUBAO
Heike Keyi's call echoed through the room, breaking the tense silence that had settled in.
"The phone is off maybe, that's why I cannot find it, but is there another way to look for them, Zhubao?" His voice carried a note of urgency.
I glanced up from my phone, meeting Heike Keyi's gaze.
"Fine..." My response was terse, the frustration evident in my tone.
Placing my phone on the table, I leaned forward, hands resting on either side as I dialed the number. Ji's question broke the quiet tension, drawing my attention. "Do you think this would work?"
"It will, but Zhubao, make him stay on the phone for five minutes..." Heike Keyi's instructions were clear, his determination palpable. "I will be successful in finding them if he does..."
"Tangina, sumagot ka!" Frustration bubbled up as the phone rang, my impatience growing with each passing second. "Fuck it..."
"Hello, Zhubao?" His voice grated on my nerves, aggravating my anger, but I swallowed it down, masking my irritation with a deep sigh. "Zhubao, are you there, do you need anything, princess?"
"Where are you?" My question was clipped, the desire to leave palpable in my voice. "Can I come there? I'm so bored here..."
"No, do something else, mind your own business, I am on a seminar..." His sarcasm was like salt in the wound, causing my expression to contort in annoyance. "Anyways, why can't I hear Yong there?"
"He's somewhere away from me, I'm outside..." I squeezed my eyes shut, feeling the situation slipping out of control. "Why do you ask?"
"Nothing, I'm just so used to hearing him call my name when I call..." His tone shifted, a strange noise in the background catching my attention. "Don't mind that..."
"Sir..."
"What is that?" I feigned innocence, hoping to glean some information. "Are you with anyone right now?"
"I'm at work, Zhubao, now tell me why you called?" His impatience was palpable, Heike Keyi's hand raised with four fingers, signaling the countdown in seconds. "I need to do something-"
"Bye, ye..." I cut the call abruptly, frustration boiling over.
"He's in the Philippines." Zihao's words hung heavy in the air, confirming my suspicions. Mama had sent a picture of them in Boracay, so his claim of being at work wasn't entirely truthful.
"That isn't enough..." My jaw clenched, determination setting in. "This isn't the end; we're just getting started..."
After our conversation, we returned home, leaving Zihao to manage things. I trusted him not to harm my son.
"Really, they took my phone?" Hang's incredulous question broke the silence. "Dumb of them, it was low battery..."
"Yong also brought his bag; he'll his find a way to reach us..." Junhao's observation was met with a knowing smirk from me. "Do you know why they took him?"
"He already knows everything..." My smirk widened into a sinister grin, "And I already know who he is."
"That evil smirk says a lot; maybe this is a bigger deal than we thought..." Shuyang's words hung in the air, ominous and foreboding.
