Grace sat in her office when she heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" She looked up to see one of their interns carrying a box, setting it on her desk. "Thank you!" Once the intern was gone, she opened the box to find copies of Ransom's book inside. She pulled one out, flipping through it and smiling. She pulled out her phone to message Ransom.

Hey. You working from home today?
I have something to show you

Yeah. I'm in the middle of something right now
Can it wait until tonight?

Grace tapped her desk a few times with her hand. Finally she sighed, grabbing the book and her coat before leaving. She drove to Ransom's apartment, stepping off the elevator as she saw him outside his door with a blonde woman. Grace stood just out of view as she watched Ransom smile, letting the woman enter ahead of him. She felt her face red hot with anger as she approached his door. She set the book on the ground against the door before leaving.

Ransom stood up from the couch with the papers, looking at the woman, "thank you Mary. You've been great. I can't wait to show these to Grace."

Mary nodded, "sure. Happy to help. Let me know when you're ready for the next step."

"I will." He opened the front door, seeing the book on the ground as he groaned, "fuck."

"What is that?" Mary watched Ransom pick the book up off the ground.

He sighed, "it's my first book. I have to go. Thanks again." He grabbed his coat and the book as he left after Mary.

Ransom went to Grace's house, knocking on the door. He didn't hear anything as he let himself in, not finding her in the house. He checked the office to find her office empty. He groaned before leaving to drive around. Finally he pulled into the pier, finding her in their spot. "There you are!"

Grace shook her head, "I don't want to talk to you right now Ransom."

"Come on, it's cold out here Gracey."

She stood up, pulling his signet ring off her finger before handing it to him. "Maybe you can give this to that blonde."

He scoffed, "come on Grace. It isn't like that."

Grace rolled her eyes, walking away.

Ransom grabbed her arm, "I told you I love you Gracey. I want to be with you. Why don't you believe me?"

She pulled her arm away from him, "because you make it clear that isn't true. I was excited to show you the book. I was happy you were moving on. That we were moving on. But you're still the same Ransom you've always been."

Ransom scoffed, "fine! Believe what you want!" He shoved his book at her, "you'll never believe in me, so what's the point?"

She watched him storm away from her as she looked down at the book. "Ransom, wait."

Grace drove to Ransom's apartment, letting herself in to find Ransom not there. She found papers on the coffee table of different houses for sale in the area. She groaned, picking them up and thumbing through them. The blonde woman's picture was at the bottom as the agent, Mary Thomas. "Fuck!" She took off her shoes before crawling into his bed, hoping he would return soon.

Grace rolled over in the morning, seeing that she was still alone. She got up to see it was after 7 as she sighed. She got up, changing clothes before grabbing the real estate papers before leaving the apartment. She drove to the Thrombey house, letting herself in. She went up to the attic study, finding it empty. She ran into Fran as she came downstairs, "did Ransom come here?"

Fran shook her head, "he hasn't, no. I'm sorry Grace."

Grace sighed, "it's fine. Can you call me if he does show up?"

Fran nodded, "yeah. Of course."

Grace left the house, resting her head back against the front door as she called Ransom, hearing it go straight to voicemail.

'Please Ransom. I'm sorry. please call me back. I love you.'

She groaned before getting back into her car, driving everywhere she though he could be. How many times would she have to go chasing after him? She went back to her house to find it empty as well. She laid down for a while until it started to get dark. She tried calling Ransom again to no answer. She got out of bed, driving once more to the Thrombey house. She found Linda eating dinner alone in the dining room, "has Ransom come here? I can't find him anywhere. And he isn't returning my calls."

Linda shook her head, "no. Sit. Eat."

Grace hesitated but sat down as Fran came into the room.

Linda motioned to Fran, "get her a plate, will you?"

Fran nodded, leaving and coming back with a plate of food and set it in front of Grace.

"Thank you Fran." Grace looked at Linda, "we had a bit of a fight and I can't find him."

Linda nodded, "oh. Well I'm sure he will come back. He always does."

Grace scoffed, "I know. This is what he does. Things get tough and he runs away. I wonder where he learned that from?"

Linda shrugged, "what is that supposed to mean?"

Grace slammed her hand on the table, "it means you've enabled him his whole life! You babied and coddled him. He never had to deal with problems because you always cleaned them up for him." She sighed as she heard the house phone ring.

Linda went to say something but Fran rushed into the room holding the phone towards Linda, "it's about Ransom."

Grace stood up as Linda accepted the phone, a worried look on her face.
