Tears rolled down Carina's face as she lay on the bed with Maya. They had a long way to go but nothing would stop the happiness of this moment. Not even the impending news of Maya's injuries.

WEEK EIGHT

"Careful Maya, you don't want to exhaust yourself" Carina was taking most of Maya's weight as they reached their front door. Oh yeah, Maya had agreed to let her Italian girlfriend move in with her since she was going to be looking after her anyways. But what Maya didn't know was that Carina had already moved most of her things into the apartment and it was a bit of a mess.

The blonde gave the brunette a look as if to say, 'I can do it on my own dummy'. So Carina let her grip of Maya go to see how long she could last without relying on the support of someone else...to prove a point.

"I'm here, I'm here. I've got the keys and the suitcase and every other thing Cap so desperately needed right now" Andy rushed up the stairs and along the hall just as Maya's knees gave way and she grabbed Carina to catch herself.

"Maya stop being a smart ass and let your girlfriend be the dominant one for a few days" The Latina said as she walked past them and opened the door.

Andy was almost back to normal since the accident. Other than the random nerve pain here and there her legs were fully functioning again.

"Jesus, I know I've been gone for a while but is this even my apartment?" Maya laughed as she looked between Carina and the many many boxes of things everywhere.

"Yeah I've not really had the chance to unpack at the same pace as my things were being delivered, since my ex didn't want to keep them around for longer than necessary" Carina smiled as they walked between boxes.

"You just rest here and I'll cook us some dinner, Andy you staying for food?" Carina shouted as she couldn't see where Andy was from the boxes blocking her view.

"Yeah but I'm cooking! You just cuddle your girlfriend and relax" Andy shouted back.

Carina didn't even fight Andy on it. She loved cooking however she was severely sleep deprived from living between the hospital and the apartment. Maya's recovery was taking a lot out of her. After Arizona broke the news to Maya about the baby, Carina tried to be there for her girlfriend as best she could but it was un-chartered waters. The Italian was unsure how to handle the situation.

The couple lay smooshed together on the sofa, between books and clothes and picture frames. There was very little place to sit so it gave Carina an excuse to be close to Maya. Considering how well Maya had taken the news of Jack and the baby, she was very sensitive and didn't like anyone touching her, including Carina. This was the first time since Maya had woken up four weeks ago that they had been close. Their relationship had been put on pause because all focuses were on Maya getting better.

The blonde rested her head on her girlfriends shoulder, relaxing into her. "You've been amazing, you know that." Maya shifted her head slightly so she could look into Carina's eyes.

"I just did what was needed" The brunette shrugged Maya's comment off.

"No I'm being serious Carina" Maya sat up. "I would have never gotten though all of this without you. You stuck by me through all the physio, and the baby." Maya winced in pain as she placed a hand to her abdomen.

"Lay down and rest, then you can tell me how amazing I am, okay?" Carina made a face at Maya which made her giggle, and then she complied, resting herself back on Carina. The smell of Andy's cooking was now making its way through to the living room.

WEEK TEN

"No no no no GIBSON STOP no no no" Maya mumbled in her sleep. Carina lay awake waiting for the nightmare to awaken her girlfriend. Every night for the last two weeks Maya had been struggling from nightmares about the fire. Only Andy wasn't there and Maya was heavily pregnant. She really hadn't dealt with the miscarriage in the conventional way, but when did she ever deal with her negative feelings normally? Never. So it was just the way it was, no one really asked questions, except Carina of course. She had been trying to convince Maya to go to therapy, but the olympian just didn't want to. And Carina didn't push very hard because she didn't want to upset the blonde further.
