However, the real work was about to begin with Maya. Which meant the honeymoon period of being around each other 24/7 might be about to end.
Carina hadn't gotten any in quite a while, which was fine for her at the beginning of Maya's recovery since her whole focus was on Maya getting better but now that things were starting to relax back down, she was really starting to feel the effects of no sex.
Maya was nearly healed completely in a physical sense. All her wounds and scars had healed up. But her mental state still wasn't there yet. Carina was struggling to bring up her feelings, not because Maya had had surgery, but because of the baby. And the nature of her mental recovery.
With Carina's profession she'd heard stories of patients after losing a child and their partners guilting them into sex when they didn't want it, or they wanted another child fairly quickly after the first one passed away. So because of Carina's deeper knowledge into that part of trauma, she felt herself inclined to not be the first to bring it up.
Unfortunelty for the Italian, Maya's head wasn't thinking about being intimate with her girlfriend just yet. Over the last week she had been thinking about what Dr Wyatt had said about humanising her baby. It was all she could think about. Just as, all Carina could think about was orgasms. Not only because she wasn't actively having any but also due to the fact her leave of absence was nearly up and she was due back at work in a weeks time.
It was just past ten o'clock, the two were getting ready for bed, Maya was brushing her teeth in the bathroom, Carina was lying in bed book in her hand.
"You know, I've been thinking" The blonde spoke as she came through from the bathroom and messed about with something on her night stand.
"Yeah?" Carina looked away from her book.
"I want to name him" Maya had a sort of soft innocent tone when she announced the idea to her love.
"Who baby?" The doctor was a little confused because there was no context to the conversation but she had a slight idea of what Maya was insinuating.
"My baby..." She went quiet, waiting to see Carina's reaction.
"Have you already thought of a name or are you asking for my help?" Carina's words came out in a matter of fact way, she didn't really mean it to be like that but it still bothered her slightly that Maya was pregnant with Jack's child. Another feeling she had been keeping to herself.
Maya reserved herself slightly after her girlfriend spoke, "Nevermind, it was a bad idea"
"No no I didn't mean to be mean, I think its a great idea Maya. What were you thinking?" The brunettes eyes softened up and a warm smile came over her face as she reached for Maya's hands, pulling her to sit on the bed next to her.
"Charlie" As soon as the fire captain said the name out loud for the first time, it was confirmed to her that that was her sons name. Charlie.
Carina tilted her head, and she squeezed Maya's hands. The thought she just had of resenting this child had vanished and all she cared about was Maya's healing process.
"I love it bambina"
"You do?" She seemed delighted that Carina liked the name.
"Yeah I do" She leaned in to kiss her girlfriend, but got her cheek as Maya moved off the bed and started talking more about the baby.
"See I always liked unisex names, even though I was never entirely sure I wanted kids. And Charlie was just one of those names that stuck with me, as soon as I thought about the baby as a person, like Dr Wyatt had told me too, i thought of him being a Charlie." Maya's face was happy as she spoke, gleaming almost.
