"Ti amo" Carina lay her head on Maya's shoulder and the two enjoyed the ride home.
Carina was an hour away from the end of her shift at the hospital. Just as she began to relax her pager went off, Arizona needed her for a consult. The doctor slumped out her chair and headed down to the ER.
"What have you got?" The Italian doctor asked.
"Mother with Triplets. 27 weeks and 3 centimetres dilated. ETA 3 minutes." Arizona spoke as she looked through charts.
"Okay great. We'll look at how to slow down progress and I'll phone up to labour and delivery to be ready." Arizona looking up at Carina as she spoke, she wished there was any other doctor she could work with, but unfortunately there wasn't.
"How's Maya?" She said quietly.
"Her recovery's doing well, she's nearly finished with physical therapy and she'd seeing a therapist to get over the trauma of Jack and Charlie." Carina smiled as she thought of how far both her and Maya had came since the accident.
"Charlie?" Arizona was confused.
"Her baby, she named him Charlie." Carina had sat with Maya's suggestion of naming her baby, the brunette becoming a little comforted by calling him Charlie.
"A boy?" She asked.
"Yeah. Maya was certain he was a boy. The therapist said it was good for her to humanise him so we are. I'm making her a memory bo-" Carina was suddenly cut off by screams of a woman in pre term labour coming through the ER door.
----
Her shift finished 4 hours ago, however Carina was just getting ready to leave the hospital now. Both her and Maya had unpredictable hours which was good for the relationship, because they knew if one didn't show up at the time they said, it was down to work commitments. Even if it did mean they missed things.
Carina walked out of the staff room as Arizona turned the corner to go in.
"Hey, I just wanted to give you this" Arizona handed Carina a large A3 envelope that felt heavy. To which she stared at it, knowing exactly what it was but also shocked that it was finally happening.
"Divorce papers, I've already signed. All up to you now." She spoke quietly but surely.
"Tha-thank you Arizona" Carina didn't know what to say. Who does in that situation.
They discussed a few things before Carina headed home to Maya.
----
"You up for a sleepover?" Carina said as she walked through their front door. Maya was working out on the floor behind the sofa.
"Huh?" She asked as she finished a set of twenty press-ups.
"Arizona gave me the divorce papers and told me she's selling the apartment" Carina stopped to let Maya take in the news before continuing.
A smile crept onto Maya's face as she got up off the floor and moved close to Carina.
"So I can wife you up soon, is that what you're saying?" Maya asked as she kissed Carina on the lips. She was more than happy with the news.
"Well that wasn't the angle I was looking at it from but I suppose so yeah" The brunette laughed into her girlfriends mouth, kissing her more passionately.
"Christmas is coming soon, think I know what to get you" Maya teased Carina.
"Oh yeah? What if I do it first?" Carina teased back.
"You won't" Maya sounding confident in her words. "Anyway why are we having a sleepover and where?" The fire captain now had her hands wrapped around Carina's waist.
