A third bang hit the door. "We should probably answer that."
Maya slipped Carina's shirt on and ran to the door.
"Who is it?" Carina shouted through before her girlfriend even had a chance to open the door.
"I can't see through the damn walls Carina, give me a minute" She shouted back.
"My goodness" Maya muttered to herself as she finally opened the front door of the empty apartment, "Ahhhhh I forgot we ordered pizza" She smiled to the delivery guy who didn't look very amused with how long it took for them to answer. Maya gave him an extra tip for the inconvenience.
"We ordered pizza babe" The blonde continued the shouting conversation, keeping Carina updated.
"Awwwwh yeah so we did" The doctor laughed to herself, "Post sex treat" she thought as her beautiful girlfriend walked through the bedroom door and stood in front of her. Hair messed up, red cheeked and looking tired, but nevertheless holding out the pepperoni pizza box for Carina to take a piece first.
Maya landed herself on the bed, next to Carina and they sat at the end, Maya's feet dangling over the edge because the bed was unnecessary high, in her opinion.
The two munched away, Carina scrolling through her old computer, Maya checking emails.
"Ohh shit" The fire captain surprised at the ping that just came from her phone.
"What?" Carina spoke with her mouth full, making Maya laugh and kiss her cheek, "Your so damn cute".
"I do try" The brunette smiled back, "What was on your phone?" She asked again.
"Andy just texted"
Herrera: Dixon's under investigation. They're having a hearing to get all angles of the story.
Herrera: I just got invited to speak so I'm assuming you'll hear something soon too x
"Wow bambina that great, they're actually holding him accountable" Carina smiled but noticed Maya's face was giving off mixed feelings.
"Its just bringing it all back" She slumped her shoulders over slightly, texting a quick reply to her friend and setting her phone down.
"Talk to me honey" Carina placed a hand on Maya's shoulder, showing support but also scared because she didn't want to see the woman she loved fall back on her progress since the accident.
"I just...seeing him" She stopped, sucking in a breath. "If I get asked to speak, seeing him there, and having to talk about Jack and Charlie, I don't know if I could do it Carina" She looked back at the Italian, her eyes full of pain remembering the horror that went down those months ago.
"It'll be hard for sure, but Maya, I know you, and I know that you wouldn't be in the position you are in right now, being the only female fire Captain in Seattle and being a freaking olympian, without going through some tough shit." She paused, "This probably will be difficult and uncomfortable, but you got through the loss of your child and I think we can both agree that was the hardest thing you'll ever face." She sighed as a tear formed in Maya's eye.
"And hey, I'll be here through it all, no matter what" Reassuring her girlfriend she moved over to her and hugged her tight, god knows Maya needed it.
"I love you Pink Scrubs" Maya spoke into Carina's back, laughing through tears.
"I love you more silly head"

Maya was rushing between the bathroom and kitchen of her apartment, it was her second day back working full time. And she was running late.
