Perspective of: Daya

After staying on the rooftop for a few more minutes, I decided to go back inside, hoping they were done explaining the game at this point. I took my seat and looked up at Ishaan, my eyes panning toward Kaidan, who stood right next to him.

They were both around the same height. Kaidan however, was more muscular, even from the time I last saw him. Ishaan's hair was dark brown, fluffy and curly. Kaidan's hair didn't seem much of a mullet anymore, it just did whatever, and it still looked nice.

They're both huge guys in... multiple.. "aspects." Well, Kaidan's definitely had some more girth-

Daya! Ew! Why am I even thinking about that? Ishaan is my boyfriend I can't be comparing him to my ex. I'm a horrible, horrible person.

I immediately jump out of my thoughts when I heard the word "dinner" being said through the mic. The actual presentation part was finally over. Now time for what I truly came here for, the food. I mean obviously I want to support Ishaan as well, but the food was another factor.

Ishaan walk back over to our table taking a seat right next to me.

"You okay?" He asked softly grabbing my hand with a squeeze.

"Yeah, just a bit hungry." I chuckled softly.

"The cooks here make the best steaks. I'll order them for us." He responded with a soft smile.

"Oh, I'm not in the mood for steak I'll just ge-" I was cut off by a loud deep voice.

"Mr. Blackwell!" Kaidan's dad, Mr. Akana, spoke.

"Ah, Mr. Akana! It's a pleasure meeting you!" Ishaan shot up shaking his hand.

"The pleasure is all mine, truly." Mr. Akana took his other hand, adding it onto the handshake.

"I don't have much time to talk but I wanted to introduce you to my son." He then called over Kaidan, who was talking to a young lady by the stage.

"Yes, father?" Kaidan smiled but something about it seemed off, as if it wasn't a genuine smile.

"Let me introduce you to Mr. Blackwell."

Ishaan's body seemed to tensed up, his body moving to the side, almost seeming to block Kaidan from my view.

It didn't work though. I could see Kaidan clearly. A little too clear. His facial expression was blank. Sure, he's smiling but the smile was empty. I can't seem to read him.

"Mr. Blackwell, I look forward to working with you." The tone of his voice didn't show any excitement, but wasn't necessarily flat.

"It's nice meeting you." Ishaan seemed awkward.

"Great! I've got to go now, you guys can sit down. Servers will be with you in a minute." Mr. Akana then went off to greet a different group of people.

I just can't seem to shake the fact that Kaidan is pretending no to know Ishaan. Is he hiding his feelings? Or does he simply not remember Ishaan? Maybe he just doesn't care. So why do I care?
