Perspective of: Kaidan
Wednesday, Week of Spring Break

"Kaidan! Come down! Pa is here!" Mom yelled calling me downstairs.

Just great. Yet another visit from dad. This time him promising a surprise I would "greatly appreciate". Knowing him it was probably something super expensive that I would have no use for. That's just the type of person he is.

I groaned getting out of bed and walked downstairs into the living room. There he was, holding a suitcase, wearing his classic navy blue suite and tie. My very own father, Benjiro Akana. CEO of one of Tokyo's biggest gaming companies, Hyper Inc.

"Dad." I bowed down, greeting him.

My relationship with my dad has never been great. Despite him and my mom still being married, it was obvious there was no love in their relationship. Dad lived all the way in Japan and rarely comes to visit. I never understood why they didn't just get a divorce.

"Son!" He pulled me into a hug, his voice way more excited than usual.

Something is definitely off here.

"I'll go finish preparing lunch." My mom announced probably trying to avoid this weird situation.

"I'll go help!" I pulled away from my dad trying to leave as well.

"No! I told you, I have a very special prize for you."
Dad pulled my arm back.

"She should arrive any second now."

"She?!" I questioned in shock.

DING DONG!

"That must be her!" He basically sprinted to the door.

While quickly opening the door I see his hands fling out as I hear a loud, almost roaring, "Kaori!" (Ka-oh-ree)

There's no way my surprise could be an actual person.

As my dad let's the person in and bring them into the living room, a large smile is plastered on his face as he carried her bags.

Next to him stood a well dress woman who seemed to be my age. She was rather tall with long, jet black hair.

"Kaidan! This is Kaori Yoshida, your fiancée!" Dad laughed, happiness spewing from his mouth.

"What?" I chuckled a bit thinking he was joking.

"Hi. Nice to meet you." Kaori's full lips spread into a sweet smile as she held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you." An awkward smile splattered on my face, shaking her hand.

"Pa, can I speak to you for a sec?" I practically shoved him upstairs into the master bedroom.

"What is there to talk about son?" His sweet smile seemed a bit off.

"Pa," I tried to think of a way to respectfully confront him.
"Can you please explain to me what's going on?"
