Troy walked into The Kingdoms the next morning and bumped into Courtney, The Kingdoms' head marketing manager. She's also a close friend of Vee.
"Court!"
She gave him a sly smirk.
"Well well well! If it ain't Prince Troy. Long time, no see. How is everyone?""Everyone's good. Why'd you say my name like that?"
"Oh no reason. Brooklyn is coming to see me later today."
"Oh is she?"
"Mhm."
"You do know me and her are still friends, right?"
"Yup. I just still hate you."
Troy sighed.
"Right. Still a workaholic? I know that's something you don't hate."Very funny. Sucks that I'm not laughing."
"Is T around?"
"Nope."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, he's not here at all. He actually put me in charge in his absence."
"Oh my thunders. Where is he?"
"I have no idea. He just left a note saying that he'll be gone for a while but he'll be back."
"That's it?"
"Yup. Come to my office. I'll show you it."
They walked to her office. Courtney went behind her desk and pulled out the note. Troy took the note from her and read it.
"Courtney, if anyone asks for me tell them I'm gone for a while and I'll be back soon. All calls and business deals are NOT on hold. The products still have to be released especially in the situation we're in. Work should still be done in my absence. I'm trusting you to handle all that. I know you're just a marketing manager so feel free to talk to your director, Harper if you need anything. But I trust you can do this. Again, Harper is there if you get too caught up in marketing. All I want is for you to oversee some things. I left a file of all the things you need to look over with Harper so make sure you get it. I know you're ready for this. If my absence becomes more than one month, not to worry I will be working from wherever I am and I'll get in touch with you. I promise. Thanks and good luck."
Troy gave her back the note.
"Hold on. Is The Kingdoms not doing well? The last time me and Ryanz talked about it, he said they were at a steady pace so I'd think that would be good.."
"You of all people should know that "steady" isn't in T's vocabulary. I actually don't blame it for not being in his vocab because it means he's made no progress."
"It's been that bad?"
Courtney nodded.
"We haven't made progress in three months. Everything is just flatlining. I'm trying to figure out new marketing strategies to bring us up but most of the time he doesn't like it because he feels like it's pulling away from what his sister wanted.""But he's got to improvise somehow!"
Courtney shrugged.
"What do I say? T is a sweet person but when it comes to this company, things have to be done according to his idea or..his sister's. I don't necessarily agree but there's only so much I can do to push the boss. But I'll figure it out. I have some things up my sleeves and knowing him, he won't like it at first but he'll get used to it."Troy nodded.
"He's going to have to. The Kingdoms has so much potential.""It does. I'm not even going to lie, he's been doing bad even emotionally. I actually wanted to ask you to talk to him because he doesn't even want to be CEO anymore."
