Mermaid Cinema
F human/M merfolk
It had been two weeks since I buried my grandmother and her entire estate was now mine, I needed to calm down so I decided to walk to the private dock she had overlooking the sea. Her, well my private beach was incredible with no pollution on the sand and in the sea it looked like paradise. The dock was in great order it looked brand new, there was no big boats but there were a few motor vehicles in the garage and a row boat but I wouldn't use them yet.
On the dock I sat down and took off my sandals, even though the dock was high and I didn't reach the water I liked my feet being free. I listened to the waves crashing into the rocks and watched as it danced and swirled on the horizon, it was so majestic but terrifying at the same time. I suddenly felt the urge to sing, a song my mum used to sing to me when I was little...
"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when your fast asleep...." I sang with all my heart, letting the words carry me away.
"You sing beautifully" a voice spoke next to me
"Whoa! Who are you?" I asked the mystery man
"My name is James, what is yours?" he asked smiling
James is a very handsome looking man, long blond hair, blue/green eyes, hooped earrings, well defined abs and a green tail... wait tail?
"Uh my name is Y/N. Are you a Merman?" I asked
"Oh finally, someone smart enough to identify males from females!" another voice sighed swimming next to him along with three others.
"Ok, I am either dreaming or I've gone insane" I spoke aloud rubbing my eyes.
A huge wave of water splashed my face making me gasp for air and shake my head. It was what I needed to make sure I was awake, I was talking to Merfolk and I wasn't crazy.
"We are very real I can assure you, this is Andrea, Jake, Sam and Colin. Nice to meet you Y/N" James smiled holding out his hand.
Lying flat on the dock I stretched my hand to shake theirs, their skin was quite cool to the touch but not like a fish more like they had been out in a cold wind for too long.
"What song were you singing?" Sam asked
"Its called 'A dream is a wish your heart makes' from a movie called 'Cinderella'" I told them
"Every human talks about movies, TV series and documentaries but we can't watch them! It's not fair!" James exclaimed slumping into the water.
"Are there no open air cinema's near the ocean?" I asked
They all looked at each other like I was speaking a foreign language, after I explained what it was they all shook their heads.
"Want to join us in the water?" James asked
"No thank you, I have a fear of large bodies of water" I admitted bashfully.
"I understand, are you scared on the dock?" he asked
"A little bit but I'm ok" I answered.
We sat there for hours just talking; the topic of films came up more than once. I felt bad for them; they were missing out on something fun because they lived in the sea or the oceans. I didn't realise the time until my stomach growled loudly.
