 A request from Euge_ne on Ao3

"Here's a request you might use :]
minotaur/human reader or minotaur/fairy reader (whichever you think is better suited)
but maybe the monster is a prince and is holding a ball, in look for a royal mate
He can't find the right person until maybe the reader has a whole cinderella moment idk...
then they both disappear for some air and maybe find themselves going through a maze? In the middle they relax and then she and the Minotaur have some alone time together"

A/N: Sorry this took a while had some family emergency, please feel free to make requests and thank you for reading

Pulled from Darkness's embrace

F fae/M Minotaur

My mother, three sisters and I had been invited to a ball, we were all dressed up and ready. I however was reluctant to leave, I wanted to go but leaving my home where my father had lived was painful.

"Y/N, I know its hard. You can't live in the past, father wouldn't have wanted that" Eya said my oldest sister

"Do you want to be called 'the depressed fae princess' forever?" Hava chimed in the second oldest

"Come with us 'Twinkle' you know you will feel better for meeting new people" Sara said, she is the little sister she is only 14 years old but she can always persuade me.

I took Sara's hand and we walked out, before we left I caught my refection. Since I lost my father I have lost my beautiful golden hair and has now become darker than night, my skin looks paler than snow and my wings have never revealed themselves. When Sara was 2 years old he died due to a war related injury, we were all prepared for it but it hit mother and me the hardest.
He was fae and had given up his immortality to save my youngest sister who gained an illness when she was still a baby.

"You are beautiful 'Twinkle'" my sister chimed in pulling my arm.

"Thank you Sara, I wish I could see it. I wish I wasn't this way" I smiled

"Give it time darling, depression in us Fae takes time. Sometimes meeting your mate can bring you back, sometimes with a few surprises" mother assured me.

"At least you still have your lilac eyes Y/N" Hava spoke

"Hava, Mind your tongue!" mother shouted

"Hava, I know you don't like my eyes. But today is not about us, its about Prince Jovian" I said as I walked past her and straight to the flying carriage.

I sat down with Sara by my side and we waited for the others, Hava apologised as she took her seat with the others.

"Alright we are ready driver" mother said

"Darlings, you three all are of age to be mated with anyone in the ball, including the prince. Please don't try and force yourselves on anyone" Mother lectured us

It was a long journey but I liked it, I just watched as the scenery below us flew by. I wanted to fly but I couldn't get out of my depression I have tried but nothing has worked yet, I felt more like myself but according to our healers my heart had yet to heal and it may take a long time to heal if ever.

We arrived and had begun to land; Sara hated landings and held me tight. I hummed to her who always made her relax, we joined the cue of carriages and were the third to last we didn't care though. We exited the carriage and followed the crowds to the main hall, everyone waited as we were announced. I always felt sorry for the announcer and gave them a soothing honey sweet that dissolves on the tongue, when it was our turn I gave it to him and he ate it before announcing us.
