As that big creature growled once more, I turned around to face it. I felt Daniel rest both of his hands on my shoulders, gently pulling me towards him, protectively.

The creature in front of us was a mirror image of a wolf, but much more strong and large. Its sharp teeth gleamed in the light. It was hunched in a defensive position.

All of a sudden I felt Daniel let go of my shoulders and slightly chuckle. Being as confused as I was, I turned slightly to face him. The look on my face must have been funny to him. His chuckle became a roar of laughter. I didn't realize, but my heart was nearly pounding out of my chest.

Looking back at the creature it too had relaxed out of its predatory state and was standing with what looked like an amused expression.

"Ok, Ok. We scared her plenty enough!" I heard Daniel chuckle. Wait...what? Was this some sort of joke with a fake animal or something? "What's going on!?" I yelled at Daniel, keeping the wolf thing in my sights still. Daniel only chuckled again, shrugging his shoulders.

"Well you wanted proof and I gave you some. Atticus you can change now." Now I understood. This was a real werewolf, like I thought. I really didn't know what to say. I mean, what would you do when you came face-to-face with werewolf? Things from my past started to make sense.

Then, before my eyes, the wolf started to glow. Its grey fur shortened and became skin, its legs became human legs and arms. Its paws became hands. I looked away as it full changed because I really didn't want to see a naked guy.

Daniel walked past me and onto the beach. He grabbed a pair of shorts from behind a bush and passed it to the now human Atticus. He didn't even seem to be affected by him being naked. Maybe it was just me and my virgin eyes, or maybe he's used to seeing naked men. I just shook my head at the thought.

When I turned back to Atticus, I saw that he was very attractive. Soft dark hair, toned muscles, dimples. The kind of guy who would make any girl swoon. But not this girl.

"So there's your proof Arianna. This is Atticus the werewolf." Daniel repeated. " No kidding." I said numbly with my mouth still open. I thought I was going to catch some flies soon so I closed my mouth.

"Well, I'm getting cold so... I will be going back home." I was kind of nervous and vulnerable in this situation. Then it dawned on me. Not only was I here with a werewolf, but I was also in the presence of a powerful vampire. I didn't quite know what they were capable of, but I didn't need to find out.

I jogged out of the water and onto the beach. But before I could get anywhere, Daniel grabbed my wrist. I tried to pull away from him but he wouldn't budge.

"Let me go!" I commanded. He only shook his head. "You need to calm down and get this all into your head. I'm sure your freaked out. But this is how it is. There's a lot of mythical creatures. Some dangerous, some not." What Daniel said did make sense but not to my brain in panic mode. "Holding me back won't calm me down, Daniel" I snapped at him. I instantly felt bad about being mean.

Daniel blinked, then let go of my wrist. I turned around and continued walking out of the water. I could hear splashing, so I knew Daniel was following me.

I slipped on my flip-flops and wrung out some of the water from my top. As I continued to walk, water dripped from my clothes.

"Hey, it's nice to sort of meet you by the way." Said a husky voice. I looked behind me to see that was the first time Atticus had spoken. I blinked, not really sure what to say.

"Well, we didn't officially meet." Was all I could think of to say. He grinned and stepped towards me. Kind of creepy... "Well I'm Atticus." He stuck out his hand for me to shake it. At first I didn't know if I should shake his hand or not, but I didn't see why I shouldn't.
