"Arianna please talk to me." Zaine pleaded as he drove Daniel's red convertible. "There is nothing to talk about." I replied nonchalantly. "Yes there is. I want you to know what that pervert was trying to do. He could have hurt you. You're like the sister I have always wanted, so seeing you hurt isn't that fun." He was talking to me just like a stern brother would. "I know what he was trying to do. But he knows something. Did you hear him yelling when we left the room? I'm screwed here."
I had my legs on the dash board, since my bad leg was mostly fine now. I didn't really need crutches, I could probably take off the bandage on my nose too. It took only a week for me to heal.
Zaine continued to lecture me until we got home. I got out of the car and pulled off the bandage on my nose and held the crutches under my arms. I got used to walking again in a few steps.
I opened the door and threw the crutches on the floor. Alex and Marcus looked at me. "I don't need them anymore." Was my simple reply. I threw out the bandage as well. I was leaning against the island in the kitchen when I heard Zaine begin his rant. He was recapping what happened to Marcus and Alex who were in the living room. Vivian and her stuff was no where to be seen.
"Whats all the fuss about with Zaine?" Daniel asked as he came up behind me. He put a cold hand on my back, which gave me the chills. "He's just mad at my history teacher." I responded. I felt strange, having my mind invaded like that. But I had a mental block up, so it must have hurt Miles. It was strange, nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I used to be some orphan reject with no knowledge on monsters and what not, but now I'm some school reject who owns a book all about them.
"What did Miles do? I've heard rumors about him, but I never thought the scrawny guy could do anything bad.'' Daniel chuckled just as he brought a glass of red liquid to his mouth. "He tried to worm his way into my mind, but when that didn't work, Zaine said he induced pain onto me. Which also happened to not work." I was staring straight ahead as I spoke. Daniel started choking on his drink, which was probably blood. A red trail dribbled down the corner of his lip. ''He did what?!" Daniel stared at me before running off to talk with Zaine.
I sighed and started to walk away when Eaton popped up out of nowhere. "Are you ok?" He asked. I jumped back a bit. "Well I would be if you didn't give me a heart attack!" I held my poor beating heart. "Sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you." He looked at his shoes. I felt bad for yelling at him after that. "Oh no, it's fine. I'm ok too by the way. Where's the one you call Vivian?" I took a hand and casually ran a hand through my hair. "She left a few days ago. She went to a hotel. She was being pretty secretive about something too." As soon as Eaton finished his sentence he was walking away.
I went into the living room and indeed Vivian's obnoxious stuff was no longer present. How odd. She came here because she wanted to know everything the guys where doing, also because she wanted the attention. But she suddenly left.
Lots of odd things happened lately. It's still so odd to me that everything that has happened, indeed happened. But I needed to realize that this was how it will be. Changes would happen and I couldn't whine about it.
Daniel left the living room after a heated discussion. I hadn't realized that I was standing in the hallway, motionless. Daniel came towards me. "Arianna, are you hurt? You don't seem to be. I know things have been real...hectic lately. But that doesn't mean I don't care about you. I want you to be safe." I snaked my arms around Daniel for a hug. He patted my back. "I'm fine. Thank you Daniel."
. . . .
Before I knew it, an entire week had passed. School work was easy, but my real problem was Caine. He brought me more and more work to do each and every day. He treated me like trash. He and his friends got anything they wanted from me. Believe me, I did not want to be a slave for anyone. But I felt as if I had no choice. Surely if I didn't do as Caine wanted, he would tell everyone like he threatened to. News is spread fast and somebody who wants me hurt will find out.
