The thing watched me with 6 cold black eyes. Atticus reached for my hand and started to pull me. But I just stood and watched, as the beast began running and almost as if it were in slow motion, it jumped into the air.
Screams all around me were muffled. Atticus's pleads for us to go no longer ran in my ears. It was only me and this beast that I was focused on. My heart beat rhythmically and my head was cleared. I don't know why and I don't know how but when the beast was just about to hit me, I raised my palms out. My hands were nearly close enough to touch its matted fur. The three dog head's had their mouths open in a frozen stance. Teeth glimmered.
Then everything turned back to normal pace, and the beast was sent flying across the hall. It hit the wall, leaving a hole and it slumped to the ground. Screams continued, then ceased right as the thing hit the wall. I lowered my palms and my thoughts came rushing back to me.
What just happened? I lifted my palms as if it was going to stop that beast but it flew against the wall. Atticus turned me around roughly by my shoulders. I said nothing at all, it was almost as if my mouth didn't work. I was a bit dazed to be honest.
Atticus's eyes stared into mine nervously. He studied me carefully as if I was hiding something. The same question came to mind. What just happened? There was this unbelievable beast that was about to kill me, then it was on the ground.
Was it dead? It wasn't moving... So if there is things like that out there, worse is still to come. Oh gosh, Daniel was right! I mean, I saw all those strange people in the hall but it wasn't as real to me as almost dying.
"Arianna! Can you hear me?" I didn't even realize Atticus was shaking me and trying to talk to me. He put both of his hands on either side of my face. I blinked a couple times and realized there was a group of people around us.
"What happened here?" Mr. Sashimoto yelled. I reconised him when I looked over, but instead of being his normal pink colour, he was green. He had strange looking scales all over his face.
A bunch of people starting talking all at the same time. I looked around and saw strange people yelling and pointing at me.
"The new girl nearly got killed."
"She like beat up that Hell hound."
"It came out of no where and chased us!"
"I think it's dead."
"It came as soon as the new girl showed up."
"She did something to it."
Voices spoke from all different directiond. I was still confused myself what happened. Atticus was still holding me and I don't know how I felt about that.
Mr.Sashimoto turned to me, the green slowly faded until his complextion turned back to normal. He stepped closer to me, watching me closely.
"Arianna, what happened here?" He asked slowly. Everyone fell silent waiting for my answer. But what was my answer? I hardly knew myself.
"I... I don't know." I stammered, finally finding my voice again. Mr. Shashimoto motioned for Atticus to follow him. I watched as he left my side and I felt alone again. I barely knew Atticus but he was the only 'friend' I had.
I was alone in a circle of people. They stared at me and whispered. I was the outsider and I was looking in.
Then, a boy stepped forward. He had red eyes that glowed. Clean cut brown hair was out of his eyes. He had his hands in his pockets and he didn't look nervous around me like everyone else seemed to look.
"So, you're that famous new girl." He said, his voice smooth. I didn't know what to say so I simply nodded. "I'm Caine by the way."
"Arianna." I said uncertainly. I'm hardly certain of anything lately. Why is he talking to me anyways? "Pretty cool what you did back there." He nodded towards the beast which was now getting pulled away by three men wearing suits. "What do you mean? I didn't do anything" I narrowed my eyes, confused.
