I stepped back a bit. And then another step. Atticus held my hand but he had no plans to go inside either.

The cop turned to us, then back to the guy at the door. "Is this man a threat?" He already knew the answer. I was in front of a powerful vampire and I couldn't fight him.

The cop withdrew his gun but held it at his side. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step outside." The man calmly walked out then faced the officer. "Can you explain to me why you attacked these kids?"

The guy ran a hand through his hair. He turned to face me. He looked horrible, like what I expected a hung over man to look like. "There will be nothing I can say to take away my actions, but what I can do is say I'm sorry and prove to you both that I am truly regretful." He had a voice that was deep and slightly accented.

The cop looked at me. "If you need anything, call my personal number. Atticus has it." The cop patted Atticus' shoulder then walked back to his patrol car. He was not helpful. I stepped closer to Atticus.

"Everyone is in the living room. We were worried, but we're the only ones to blame for that." He walked in front of us which was better that way. Sure enough, there was 4 other men sitting on the chairs or couches. Daniel stood up from his lazy boy and jogged over to us. He went to hug me but I put my hand out to stop him.

"Arianna, Atticus, what we did last night was unacceptable. We really regret drinking that much. These are my brothers, so it was supposed to be a reunion. But one beer lead to another and another. My brother Zaine feels horrible about hurting you both.'' Atticus and his brothers stood looking at us with grim expressions.

"You already broke my trust after a week and a half of me being here. You clearly are no more of a kid than either of us." I glared at him and walked up the stairs. But before I got to my room I heard Atticus say, "you screwed up bad Daniel." Atticus stormed up the stairs as well. I slammed my door closed.

I just laid on my bed, summing up everything that happened to me. I was feeling pretty awful. I wondered how the other girls and boys from the orphanage were doing. Surely they all went to good homes like they deserved. I missed everyone. I missed the nuns. Hell, I even missed bitchy Mitchey.

I didn't know how long I laid on my bed for. I was just staring out my window, watching the sky change colours.

Someone knocked on my door. I didn't move at all. The person came into my room and set something on my night stand. "You must be hungry." It was Zaine. He quickly left my room.

I turned over and saw a sandwich and a glass of water. I ate it but I tasted nothing. I drank the water but I still felt nothing.

I decided to just go to bed. I slept with a heavy heart and emotions swirling around in my head. I felt betrayed and alone. Daniel was supposed to be there for me but that was clearly the opposite of what he did.

. . . .

He was staring at me. His eyes were softer than before. He touched my cheek, just watching me.

. . . .

It was a simple dream but it meant so much more, since it was a dream message. I had to find out more about the man with purple eyes. Daniel would be no help since he wasn't the last time. Besides, I didn't want to talk to him anyways.

I looked around my dark room and realized it was night still. I put my head back on my pillow. My breaths steadied again and I was drifting off. Foot steps came down the hall. My body stiffened and I closed my eyes. My door opened. Who ever was in my room, came closer. My bed dipped a bit. Then I felt a hand run down my arm. It took everything in me to not push the hand off of me. I felt warm lips on my cheek. The bed went up again and who ever was in my room, was now gone.
