''You're gettin' adopted by him? That weird guy? Ha! He's probably a druggie or something. No better yet, he's a rapist and he's gonna sell you on the streets! Haha!'' Michelle laughed and taunted. Michelle was a 14 year old demon child and she has been at the orphanage for quite some time. We have always disagreed and often fought. She had a horrible attitude which was why she was never adopted.

''Aww I think somebody is jealous. I know you're upset that I got adopted and you didn't, but really it's no surprise.'' I smirked at her and the other older girls laughed at my come-back. Luckily for me all the younger ones were playing outside so they didn't have to hear my harsh words.

'Parents Day' was over and it was the most successful one the orphanage has had in a long time. James and Jenny were both adopted to the same parents along with half of the kids, including Kelly. It was amazing. I was truly ecstatic that so many kids went to good homes.

Michelle glared at me. ''I don't care about your stupid life! You think you were being brave back there when that guy was going to hit Jenny? Well it wasn't. Any one could have helped. You just happened to be eves-dropping on their conversation.'' Her comeback was weak. I could tell she struggled on it.

''Oh Michey, you've got it all wrong. The fact is, I helped someone and you didn't. I got adopted and you didn't. I'm liked you're not. You're mean, and if you won't stop being mean you won't get adopted.'' I was being so harsh, yet I didn't feel guilty. I stood up, brushed off my dress and left the girls room.

I walked down the hall and I saw a bunch of kids packing up some clothes. Rather early to be preparing to leave, but I can't blame them for being excited. I felt the same but I knew it would be at least a week until I could go to my new home. I am just so flipping happy that I was getting adopted by that mysterious guy. I should have thought it over. But I was too caught up in my excitement.

Daniel was really strange. He didn't look like the type who would adopt a 17 year old girl. He looked far too young. His motives were very questionable.

I walked down the stairs and I stopped when I saw Sister Margret talking to Daniel. I pressed my back against the wall, so I was hidden from sight. I could hear their conversation perfectly.

''The poor dear has been here for many, many years. 12 to be exact. But you already know that. She is very strong minded and can often get into fights. But don't let that fool you. Shes a caring girl. You saw how she defended little Jenny." Sister Margret spoke gently to Daniel.

"Yes, yes. Is it still working? Alright, we can't take any risks. Everything should work as planned." Daniel sounded excited. I only caught bits and pieces of the conversation and it left me confused. "She is showing some of her true self as well." I froze. My true self? What exactly did that mean?

"Interesting. Well we have plans to meet in two days for lunch. Is that alright?" Daniel asked. I forgot my confusion and smiled. Lunch would be nice. I could let my hair down and wear a cute spring outfit. It was the beginning of April anyways so it was beginning to warm up.

''That sounds lovely. That new cafe would be a nice choice." Sister Margret gushed."Oh yes. That sounds perfect. Should I tell her? She's on the stairs anyways." I was caught off guard there. How did he know? I heard him chuckle and Sister Margret laughed. I stepped out from behind the wall and smiled shyly.

"Hey, how did you know that?" I asked Daniel."Well I could see your hair." Daniel smiled and showed his perfect white teeth. I giggled and cursed my hair for getting in my way.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to spy but I heard you two talking and I didn't want to interrupt. Also, I didn't want to go back up stairs." I smiled and looked at my feet.
