Monty explained how they reorganized his golf course every three months to keep things interesting. It didn't take long for the boy to pick it up, quickly moving things around and speeding up the process immensely.

Monty set the final hole into position, leaning back with a heavy sigh as he brushed his hair back into place,

"Alright, suppose we're done. Thanks for your help, kid." Monty gave the boy a toothy smile, lifting his glasses to wink at him.

Gregory grinned, hands on his hips, "Yes, I'm  pretty awesome. Now," the boy clasped his hands together, a mischievous smirk forming on his face, "Time to teach you how to beat people up."

Monty winced, raising his palms, "Let's not call it that, alright? But first, ah' have something for ya."

Gregory tilted his head with interest as he watched the gator rummage through his pockets, pulling out an orange watch with a flourish.

"Here, your very own fazwatch. It'll let ya talk with me if ya get lost or something." The gator smiled, placing the item on the boy's wrist before he could respond.

Gregory blinked, tilting his hand to gaze at the watch, "T-thanks...are all of these things of Freddy?"

Monty sighed, rubbing his arm, "Yea, sorry if ya don't like it, but he is the face of the company and all."

The boy flinched, internally grimacing at the sadness grazing the reptile's voice, "N-no, I like it. I just thought it'd be cool if they made them for all the animatronics."

The gator nodded solemnly, "Yea, it really would. But sadly, we don't pull in as much income as him, add the fact we're understaffed, and half the building needs repair; a silly watch isn't that important."

"The buildings breaking down? I thought this place was loaded?"

Monty shook his head, kneeling beside the child, "Not so much these days. Sure we get enough to stay open, but management doesn't care about fixing the place up. Most of the cameras don't even work." The gator shifted, gazing at the floor as his eyes pooled with something unreadable; it was akin to guilt.

The child placed his hand under his chin, " Maybe I can fix them. I'm good with electronics, and it doesn't seem like anyone else will. Sides, I wouldn't mind having access to the feeds. "

Monty frowned, tail slowing, " As much as ah' don't like the idea of that...ah' think ah' know ya well enough you'll do it whether or not ah' approve...so I'll help where ah' can."

The child's eyes widened, unused to people even remotely believing in him, "I won't let you down; I'll get this place up and running again the best I can. Maybe even give you guys...well, mostly just you some upgrades."

"Upgrades? Do ya think ah' need em?" The gator glanced over himself, thinking what the child could change.

"Well, yea, everything can be improved." He paused, hands crossed over his chest, "And I'd like to fix your leg at least, maybe install some weaponry as well."

The gator felt his leg cramp at the boy's suggestion, "Guess ah' wouldn't be opposed to havin this fixed; nobody seems able to figure it out. But ah' don't want weapons, ah' don't like fighting."

Gregory sighed, shoulders slumping, "Geez, you're difficult...but fine, I'll figure something else out, something more defensive than offensive. Deal?"

The gator smiled, "Sure, if ya can prove you're as good as ya claim, I'll let ya tinker around a little."

The boy's eyes lit up, "I'll prove it by fixing the cameras, but first, we need to train so you can at least defend yourself."

Monty chuckled, raising himself to his full height, "Dang, was hoping ya forgot about that."
