Jason, Trish and I went to Beverly Center. We watched a movie and had fun. Jason went to the arcade, Trish went shopping at H&MM and I went to a local comic book shop in the mall. It had a lot of pretty cool stuff just like the comic shop I usually go to near UCLA. So I stared at a lot of stuff in the shop and I stumbled to this guy. He's in the cashier talking to the store owner. I know I've heard that voice before.
"Hey, excuse me! Do you still have that classic Geoff Johns Justice League Vol. 9 I think. Hardcover?"
"Will look it up for you." The store owner replied.
"Thanks!"
"Thank you, too! It's a classic, right?" The guy in the cashier replied.
"OH. MY. GOSH. Geoff fricking Johns? Holy cow! My name is Arthur Hale. Meeting you in person is part of my bucket list and now I have to cross that out."
"Thank you, thank you."
"May I ask sir, um..whar are you doing here?"
"Oh, I'm just here to promote some stuff from DC for comic-con..."
"Oh, right, forgot about Comic-Con. Really been busy with school and I miss those days where I'm updated into all things DC."
"Oh, so you're a DC fan?"
"Well, I like DC more. But doesn't mean I hate Marvel, Mr. Johns...."
"Oh, stop it. Call me Geoff."
"Haha. So.....Geoff...ever since I became a comic geek, I wanted to become a writer of comics. Mainly, for DC Comics. I just wanna ask if are there maybe, available jobs at DC Entertainment?"
"Wow. That's really remarkable, Arthur. I remember when I first came to the business.. I worked for Richard Donner and I was invited to DC Comics when it was still in New York. Well...not really sure if there are still remaining jobs but it's not easy to break into comics...."
"Yeah...."
"Hey, I can invite you to the HQ if you want to..."
"Really, Geoff? That's awesome!!"
"Maybe next Wednesday?"
"What time....wait..Wednesday......umm..maybe 2 in the afternoon?"
"I'm cool with that. Just maybe...you have Twitter?"
"Yeah..@arthurnotcurry."
"Haha... I see what you did there."
"Hey, can I take a picture with you. Selfie? "
"Sure, no problem, dude."
And that is definitely going on Twitter and Instagram. Damn. Meeting Geoff Johns, getting the Justice League vol. 9, watching a movie with my friends, Geoff inviting me to the DC HQ...today was a good day. This is really awesome. I won't forget this day.
Trish drove me to my home and I had an amazing time. It's a really awesome feeling when it's night time and it's peaceful. Just happy to feel relaxed right now. Got a new comic and to be added to my collection and met Geoff Johns. Guess I'll be at my laptop until 12 midnight. Yes, I am a nyctophile. A person who loves darkness or night and finds relaxation or comfort in the darkness. Thanks, Google!
