My heart took hold of my mouth today
And I asked if you would care to see me
Sapphire painted toes swinging back and forth back and forth
My chest pooling with a saccharine sensation closely resembling lacy valentines and chunky glitter glue
Darling, I'd like for you to take a swim
You said you want to see me sometime this week
And all I heard was
I want to tell the moon about you
Mama, I'm sick with love
My throat burned red from their name I keep repeating
Cherry syrup laves my liver
Lemon tarts replacing white blood cells
My teeth cracked and oxidized umber
Stomach swollen and heavy
With cherubs and sour suckers
What would we do?
This week, I mean
I'd like to douse you in my words
Please tell me, will you have them?
Entwining between your hair follicles
charcoal black and shantung soft
Let me nurture you in pretty musings
And sequinned sayings
Feel them oh so tender down the bridge of your nose
Please tell me, do you feel it?
Darling you are art incarnate
The reason poets like to paint with words
Let the poetry falling from my lips be the air you breathe and the nectar that you drink
