you crept in like hovering
darkness ready to engulf the cosmos.
this time, not even sparing
the little stars.
yet, i embraced you, saw you
as the vignettes to my pictures.
you made me bold,
i thought.
but only if i knew,
you made me hollow,
floating in singularity.
i smiled beneath the
transparent sheet
(ironically, erasing the existence
of transparency)
half drown in the black ocean,
the dark waves your eyes behold.
everything was perfect,
even for a heartbeat.
(sometimes pretending
is a virtue)
well, perfection, my love,
is suffocating.
a heart takes a heartbeat to stop,
as well.
if my heart stops,
you might disappear,
wouldn't that be good?
put my pictures
upon the dry bloodstains on
your wall
a bunch of petunias might be
helpful in making my
cold smile presentable,
or some casual paintings
of yours.

carve a sculpture out of my flesh,
brandings of forgotten love on my chest
(you're Picasso,
my darling,
help me die an aesthetic death.)
