Quest for Joy

Chapter 9

Taeyeon was about to just tough it out and say she wasn't hungry, but her stomach betrayed her with a growl. God, damn you stomach. "What do you want me to sing?"

"That's up to you." Jessica stated.

"But no happy birthday, Mary had a little lamb, twinkle, twinkle little stars or any children songs or nursery rhymes!" Krystal added in and gave her sister a high five.

The rest of the group members could only look innocently at Taeyeon being a victim of the two sister's evil plan.

Taeyeon gave in and decided to sing a song that came to her when she was taking a shower.

At the final note, there was a brief pause of silence before everyone cheered and clapped for her, leaving Jessica and Krystal looking dumbfounded at the unexpected result.

"Wooo!!! Taeyoon Unnie!!! I didn't know you had such a voice!!" Sulli clapped happily along with others, surrounding a surprised Taeyeon.

"Can you tell us the song's name!? I really want to hear the original!" Amber asked her next.

"It's not an actual song...It came to me randomly when I was showering." Taeyeon answered honestly.

Amber's jaw dropped to the floor. "Noooooo waaay! The notes and lyrics and everything just magically flew in your head?"

"Come on Unnie, stop joking around and just tell us!"

Amber took out her phone and did a quick search of the lyrics. "There's zero search results. This song doesn't even exist!"

"Wait, so you don't even have instrumentals to go with your song yet?"

Taeyeon shook her head.

"We should ask for a favour from Joohyun! Isn't she here today? I think she can get us a sound engineer and producer to make it into an actual song!!" Luna exclaimed at her own idea.

"Yeah, why don't you go ask her then?" Amber challenged her.

Luna gave her idea a second thought. Her mind tried to imagine approaching the seemingly cold and intimidating daughter of a CEO to ask for a favour. "Never mind." She ended with a frown.

"I don't mind finding someone for that." The door to their studio clicked open as Joohyun walked inside.

"Joohyun!" Amber exclaimed and ran towards the unexpected visitor, followed by the others.

Joohyun liked what she heard too and idled by the door to listen, but didn't come in because she didn't want to interrupt Taeyeon's song.

Getting sick of this, a grumpy Jessica stood up from her spot. "I can't stand anymore of this." She walked out the door without saying another word. Krystal followed closely behind.

At the end of the day, Taeyeon had to take a cab home.

Taeyeon feeling a bit annoyed by the two annoying sisters leaving her behind at the studio, she wanted to scold the two once she got home. But she stopped when she heard loud noises from behind the door.

"Why? I DON'T CARE, BUT SHE GOT DRUNK BECAUSE OF YOU AND YOUR MOTHER'S STUPIDITY! WHAT WERE YOU GUYS TRYING TO ACHIEVE? She just turned 18 for god's sake."

"...how did you know..." Jessica said shakily, "It was an accident, we were...just trying to...scare Tae. We meant no harm." Jessica looked down at her feet.

"What? What do you have against Taeyoon that you want to set her up like this??? Don't you ever talk to me about going to the studio with Krystal again."
