After the passing of a few stops, the bus finally reached our destination. She made her way through the now crowded bus and got off with haste, why is she acting so anxious? To this day, I still cannot figure out what her work at my best friend's company is, but I know whatever it was, it must be hectic. Especially, if it's something that can keep her attention like that - thumbs never leaving the touch screen and the consecutive phone calls.
We were waiting at the red lights when fate had caught up to us, when her phone hit the lamp post and knocked it out of her hands. It landed on the ground beside her. She turned around and bent over to grab her phone, showing her protruding collar bones underneath her white collared t-shirt. I sighed in relief when she didn't notice me, especially when I was just a little more than a meter away from her. It was then when she walked forward without looking, the screeching sound of the approaching traffic screamed at her from afar. Instinctively I stepped forward and let her hear my voice again.
"HEY!..."
I chased after her in an instant, like a predator locked onto its prey and reached out to grab whatever I can grab on to. Panicked as I could barely get a hold of her. My heart beat ever so rapidly. Whatevert this was, god has chosen the perfect bait for me.
Just when I got a firm grip, the traffic hit me with a blast of air and I was greeted by a high pitched car horn. After pulling her out of harm's way, my body let out a gentle shudder, a feeling of relief finally washed over my body. As if it was from an old habit, I couldn't stop but to scold her.
"Watch where you are going..." I paused when she looked up at me with those eyes, the look that I remembered when I first met her. She was about to talk back...until she looked around and realized the situation. The sweet voice I was anticipating for seemed to be lost between her teeth. Her mouth slightly opened as I took off my sunglasses.
"Hello Tae..." I wanted to call her TaeTae, but at the same time I knew I probably shouldn't. I tried my best to smile, trying my hardest to suppress the urge to hug her like the old times. When the world was just me and her.
She remained silent.
[Pov end]
Taeyeon was lost for words when she saw the girl who just saved her from a trip to the hospital or somewhere worse. They walked silently towards the other side of the road and she stared at the lady in front of her. Undeniably, the girl she used to be close with had gotten a lot more beautiful and her body even more attractive now fully developed. She looked at the way she walked and looked back blankly whenever the latter caught her stare.
"Hi, Taeyoon." The girl greeted her with a smile that faintly resembled the one from when they first met.
It took a while for Taeyeon to respond with a bow instead. Her mouth opened and closed, and with the clear of the throat, she finally gathered herself to speak again.
"Hey." She said with an equally inviting smile showing her pronounced dimples, and as soon as the smile disappeared she lowered her gaze down to her bag, looking for her phone. "Fany, why don't you put your number in here and I will text you sometime."
Tiffany without a doubt was about to protest the dismissive gesture, but she stopped herself when she was called by her old nickname. "Busy with work?" She asked instead, remembering what she had observed throughout the week.
Taeyeon nodded in a polite and composed manner and waved her good bye.
------
After work, Taeyeon called a taxi and headed for the address that was handwritten on Mrs. Im's letter.
