I noticed Willow making her way up the small hill to the pack house. She was alone but soon joined some of her pack members when she caught me watching her.

An air horn sounded, and everyone made their way to the tree line to begin. One by one, the pack members from every nation shifted into their wolves and stretched out into a line. Lightning Ridge broke off from the rest of their packs and kept position between the forest and the city just like we discussed. Perry's pack members would need to push through our members in order to get to the city, but my pack won't let a single wolf break through our line of defence.

Once all the packs were ready, their alphas would take up the defensive position at the back of the pack to make sure that every member made it without injury. We were there to keep order and watch over our members.

At the sound of the air horn, all wolves at the tree line raced into the forest together. The alphas lingered. After about five minutes, I gave control to Dame and shifted, taking off after our pack members.

We thought it would have taken longer for us to catch our fellow wolves, but they weren't trying to outrun the other packs. They stuck with them and pushed any of the strays back that got too close to the tree line. We were proud of them for all working together as a brotherhood.

We had almost ran for ten minutes when fifteen of our brothers split from the party, protecting the tree line. It was time to proceed with our plan. Last night when we were on the phone with that Willow female, we informed her of Alpha Perry's intentions with the pack run. We needed to know where our mate would be so that we could get to our luna before Alpha Perry had the opportunity. We asked her to betray her friend's trust and let us keep both of them protected from Alpha Perry's wrath.

It didn't sit well with Willow nor with ourselves, but this was to save our mate's life. For that reason, we needed to get to our love first.

Willow told us of an old gym our mate had the keys to that was on the outskirts of the territory. Mate would use it as a refuge and go there anytime she wanted to escape from Alpha Perry. Willow also told us that if the back exit was unlocked, then Mate would be inside somewhere.

Beta Jay and Delta Winn flanked us as we made our way to the edge of the forest. Our small party of brothers slowed on approached and remained hidden in the underbrush. Beta Jay scouted the area slowly and made sure that there was no sign of any guards nearby. We could see the building through the trees, but there was no way we'd expose Mate to those runts Alpha Perry had on staff.

Our eyes were pinned on Beta Jay's movements, ready to spring into action if any wolf pounced on him out of nowhere. He wasn't just our beta; Jay was a childhood friend. We would kill any wolf that tried to attack him.

Beta Jay stalked over to a tree by the edge of the forest and sniffed for a moment. He lifted his head into the air as his snout followed the scent of a wolf. It had to be Mate's.

"I smell something. A female. Not too long ago," Beta Jay mind-linked us and told us that it's clear.

We nodded to our brothers and left the safety of the forest. All were swift and silent as we broke off and covered all exits around the building. We glanced through one of the floor-to-ceiling windows and saw a massive pool of water but no movement. Was Mate here? Mate's scent was, so there was no question.

Willow mentioned that the back exit would be unlocked if mate was inside, but as we and Delta Winn walked around to the door, we pushed the handle down with our paw and found it was locked. Strange. Mate's scent was very fresh here, but the door was locked.

With our noses, we lowered it to the bottom of the door and caught the delicious vanilla and pine scent of our mate before our nose burned with the smell of bleach.

"Alpha, all wolves report the smell of bleach coming from each exit," Beta Jay quickly mind-linked me.

Mate knew we were outside and was trying to mask her scent so we couldn't locate her.

We instructed Delta Winn to follow and send the males stationed at the front of the building to cover the back exit. We made our way to the front of the building where Beta Jay was stationed. Mate must have spotted us as we came out of the forest. Mate was probably thinking we're Alpha Perry's runts come to take her back to that den of nightmares.

Mate was cunning. Mate was delicious and inside. So close.

"What's our status with the front doors? Are they simply locked?" we questioned Beta Jay.

"Alpha, the doors are not just locked but seem to be barricaded with a heavy object."

"Barricaded? We think but there is no other option. We must break through."

They would know soon. Alpha Perry would send his runts to hunt for us. We must find Mate quickly. We took a step back from the doors and bared our fangs before racing at the entrance and slamming into the doors. Beta Jay was correct. Something was keeping us out. There was no doubt Mate was inside the building.

Beta Jay and Delta Winn joined in to break open the entrance. We were determined to have our other half.

Bang!

We will not give up.

Bang!

We will protect our mate.

Smash!

We panted and looked up from inside the building. We were finally inside.
