Two days.
Two whole days. That's how long Ma-ri ignored and gave me the silent treatment for. I couldn't even be upset, I deserved it.
For two entire days she lived as if I didn't exist and that hurt more than if she would have screamed at me and cursed me out. I apologized with flowers, lots of flowers. I wasn't sure if she actually liked them, but I needed to prove how sorry I was. She would simply glance at whatever I presented to her and turn the other direction or leave the room completely. I was feeling defeated, but I was not going to give up. I know I hurt her deeply with what I said but I didn't mean it-not even a little bit, she means the world to me and not a fraction less.
On day three I decided I had to make her listen to me. When she woke up, I had a bath drawn for her with a citrus bath bomb, after her relaxing soak I served her favorite breakfast of French toast with fresh berries, crispy bacon and cheesy scrambled eggs. When she was done eating, I cleared away her plate and cup to wash them, as I worked in silence, I felt her watching me and I wanted to say something, but I didn't know if she was ready to talk to me yet.
Before I could muster up the courage to say a single word she was gone, I turned to see an empty chair and kitchen. I slapped the dish towel down and sighed heavily, she was really committed to the act and as frustrated as I was, I had to take it. I made her feel insignificant, but she could never be anything less than a priority to me, none of my soulmates could. I trudged upstairs to my room and fell back onto my unmade bed, trying to think of a way to break the silence that's settled between us. I felt the hurt I caused her, and it made me feel like shit and made me wish I had a time machine so I could have just told her the truth about my family upfront.
As I laid on my bed, racking my brain for ideas a firm knock on my door caught my attention "Come in" I tell them
"Are you okay?" Jungkook asked, getting on the bed with me. He laid in the opposite direction but with his head next to mine
"No," I answered honestly "Ma-ri still won't talk to me or stay in the same room with me long enough to hear me out either. I don't know what to do to change this"
"What is she feeling right now?" He asked. I tilted my head slightly and closed my eyes, I focused solely on Ma-ri but I didn't feel much of anything.
"Nothing. I don't feel any strong feelings negative or positive which is somehow worse than if she was angry. It's like she doesn't care."
"She is stubborn" was all he said. The room fell silent for a few minutes when I got an idea that was a little cliche but would be my best shot. I couldn't let another day go by with her ignoring me like that.
"I have an idea; can you help me?"
"Of course, what do you need me to do?" He asked. I sat up and pulled my phone out, opened my web browser.
"Pick up her favorite cake, I'm calling the bakery right now and will text you when it's ready. I need to go to the Lotte store"
"Okay... what are you planning?"
"You'll see," I smiled and pecked his lips "Keep your phone nearby"
I grabbed a coat from my closet, my wallet and shoved my phone in my pocket. Downstairs I grabbed my keys and closed the door behind me. Once in my car I called the bakery to see if they had any triple chocolate cherry cake available, either by the slice or a whole cake. Thankfully they had half a cake available so I text JK right away so he could go get it.
Merging into traffic I navigated the streets of Seoul until I reached my destination. Making sure I was as unrecognizable as possible with a hat, a mask and sunglasses, I entered the large department store after parking, making my first stop in the Dior store, picking up two fragrances. Next, I went to the Gucci store to buy her a new handbag, the Ugg store and lastly, I went to Tiffany & co., an apology diamond couldn't hurt.
