Me, mom, Mi-Kyung, Minji and Minsu along with Dr. Moon stood outside my father's hospital room. My heart was beating so fast and loud I couldn't hear what anyone was saying.
"It's gonna be okay honey, take deep breaths" Taehyung's voice soothed me from within. I held on tightly to my mother's hand and tried to breathe slowly.
"Do you want one of us to come up there?" Yoongi asked, I shook my head before replying.
"No, I'm fine honey but thank you. Just nervous"
"Okay, we love you"
"Are you ready?" Dr. Moon asked before knocking on the door twice. He waited five seconds before opening it in what felt like slow motion.
I was sure my heart was going to burst through my chest cavity and fall out, I had never been so anxious in my life. A mixture of feelings boiled within me, aside from nerves I was also excited and frustrated.
There was my dad, he was sitting up in the hospital bed staring out the window with an unreadable look on his face. I wondered if he felt his soulmates nearby. Mom and Mi-kyung stepped in first, still holding each other's hands, then my siblings and finally me, staying in the back of the group. Dr. Moon and I made eye contact and he whispered that he would give us some time alone with him. I nodded and watched him close the door behind us.
It was mostly quiet, only the low hum of the medical equipment and the distant twittering of the birds outside could be heard. Even as I was looking at him with my own eyes I was having a hard time believing them, first my mom and now my dad have pretty much come back from the dead. What alternate universe was I in?
"Won-jae?" Mi-kyung's voice cracked but he still heard her and turned to face us.
It was too much for Minji, she passed out with her head barely missing colliding with the floor thanks to me and Minsu's reflexes. Our father jumped from his bed to be at her side while Minsu held her in his arms. I ran out to get the doctor, who I spotted down the hallway on the phone.
"Come quick, Minji passed out!" He quickly ended the call and ran towards the room. Dr. Moon pressed a button on the wall inside the room and an alarm went off. Seconds passed before two nurses ran into the room in light blue scrubs, one male and one female, and took her from our brother. A third nurse came in with a gurney and quickly lowered it so the other nurses could lift her onto it easily. I watched with trembling lips, hoping she was okay.
They performed a quick evaluation to determine that the situation was too overwhelming so she passed out. Smelling salts and oxygen on standby were enough to bring her to again With Dr. Moon's clearance the nurses left everything to him. Minji woke up in a brief panic but soon recalled where she was and sighed in relief.
"I just want to take your blood pressure," Dr. Moon told her and she nodded.
"Minnie?" Dad called out, making her look up at him "How do you feel?"
