Nine

"I bought your favourite vanilla ice cream and boom, you disappeared that day" Satya speaks, moving his chair back and forth.

"I wouldn't have left if I knew you were going to treat me with ice cream" Saesha sighs heavily and drops her head on the table, exhausted.

"Where were you that day?" satya asks for the umpteenth time, while Sai groans loudly on to the table.

"I told you I was spending my evening with my boyfriend. What's so hard to believe?" She raises her head and pretends to roll her eyes in annoyance.

"Do you really think I'm a fool? I know when you're lying and when you're honest" Satya grows worried on her adamant self which isn't ready to give in anything else.

Saesha rises to her feet in alarm, tries to glare at Satya.

"Im serious satya, I was with him" Saesha scratches her arm  and drops her hand when she realizes she is scratching herself. She then looks down at her bitten nails and takes a mental note to cut her nails when she reaches home.

"If anything or anyone is bothering you, please talk to me about it. I don't want you hurting, okay?" She nods her head at him and wraps her arms around his neck.

"Thank you, pakki" She smiles and unwraps her arms from his neck.

"Did I tell you I'm taking a break for a week like sometime after few weeks?" She casually takes her seat and studies Satya's expressions, which turns from worried to blank. Unreadable.

"Where are you going?"

"Oh, going to meet his parents" She says and leans against her seat.

"That fast?"

"I know right, Akshay is too impatient. He wants me to meet his parents and wants me to make a good impression on them since I'll be their future daughter in law and all" she rambles and stops when she realizes what she she has said.

"Wow" Satya says, in not so wow tone.

"Yep. So don't miss me too much when I'm gone" she kicks up her table and a half filled water bottle rolls down and falls on her foot. Satya's lips raises and he tries to hold back a grin.

"Thats for assuming I'd miss you" he retorts cockily and she huffs out in annoyance. Picking up the bottle, she throws it at satya, who mock winces when the bottle hits his shoulder.

"Ouch" He mock rubs the area the water bottle made contact with.

"Can you not be your usual cocky self and admit you'll miss me for a week?" She rolls her eyes at him while trying to hide her smile.

"Can you stop abusing me?" She throws mutiple pens at him in response.

"Wait, what?"  Saesha holds the dining table to keep her steady.

"Yes. We are leaving tomorrow" Akshay announces their departure to his hometown, studying her expressions.

"But.. But.. Isn't that too early?" She grips the table tightly and frowns.

"Yes, my mother wants to meet you. I'm sorry I agreed to her without confirming with you first but she left me with no choice" Akshay says and studies her reactions.

"Ohmygod" She slurs, and exhales out loudly.

"Saesha" he grows concerned as he watches breathing heavily.

"Idontthinksoimprepared" she slurs again and raises from her chair. Clasping her hands together, she paces around the room impatiently.

"Saesha" He calls her again but she keeps pacing the room back and forth.

"What if-"

"Saesha " He raises his voice, which immediately gains saesha's attention.

"Take deep breaths. You look like You're going to pass out again" She obeys taking deep inhales and exhaling out loudly.

"What if I mess up?" She brings her hand forward to her mouth and drops when she realizes she is about to bite her nails.

"You wouldn't. Even if you did, don't worry, I'd still be your fake boyfriend to your ex's engagement" He says, keeping his hands on his pants pockets.

"Really? I won't mess up then" She says, determined and nods her head several times.

"Good. Now, pack your luggage. We are leaving tomorrow"

"But-"

"Parvathi is coming with us too" He says before walking away from her.

"so bossy" she mutters under her breath

"I heard that"

"Na eppo atha sathama sonnen?" she wonders out loud
