That was another tireful day at work.
Looking up at the clock, I realize it's time for me to leave the workplace and head home.
Favorite part of the day.
Quickly organizing the piles of papers that were lifelessly laying on my table, my small legs takes long strides toward the exit door.
"Enga ivlo fast ah poringa madam?" A familiar voice rings out in the office hallway And an arm drapes around my shoulder, decreasing my fast pace.
"Veetukku sapda poren. Where else will I go?" I roll my eyes at Satya, whose arm tightened on my shoulder. Frowning, I look up at him and notice he is looking straight ahead. Following his gaze, my eyes land on the person in front of us. Harish. Taking a sharp inhale, I force a tight smile and look ahead.
"You're leaving already?" The question was thrown at Satya but I know, it was for me. Harish's eyes snap back to my face and linger longer than they should.
"Ah yes, I'm dropping Sai, so. But I swear I'll complete the rest of the work tomorrow" Satya speaks, interrupting our staring contest.
I'm glad he did.
"I can drop-"
"No" My reply comes out faster, cutting off his question. That came out meaner than I expected
"I have to go somewhere else so" I add, not wanting to sound rude.
"I see. Okay then. Have a good night" Harish gives us a small smile, before disappearing into his cabin.
Satya and I both let out a breath of relief and head outside, not uttering any single words.
"Ice cream venuma?" Satya asks, breaking the silence. A grin breaks out on my face, as I tilt my head to look at him.
"Ithellam enna kelvi. Lead the way" My voice comes out chirpy and I clear my throat. He laughs before unlocking his car. Opening the passenger door, I slide myself into the car.
----------
Even though I just had my bowl of ice cream five minutes ago, my stomach rumbles. Placing my hand on my stomach, I pat for a few seconds.
"Eppo Paaru kathittey irukka. Ippothaney sapta" I talk to my stomach and the people in the corridor gives me weird stares before disappearing into their apartments. Rolling my eyes at my stupidity, I shove my hands into the pocket of my jeans and almost get a mini heart attack when I'm unable to find the keys.
"Ayayo" The word leaves my mouth involuntarily, as my hands dig deeper into the pant.
After a minute of struggling, my hands come in contact with cold metal. Sighing in relief I take out the keys and insert one into the door. Turning the doorknob open, I enter the apartment and a cologne hits my nostrils.
"Puli, athu neenthana?" I call out, but there was no response. All I could hear was feet tapping against the ground.
"Parvathi?"
No response
"Dei, veladatha da. Na unakku nalla sapadu tharuven" I nervously chuckle, taking slow steps towards the living room.
My breath hitches when I spot a man leaning on the couch, with earbuds. I'm unable to make out the face of the person since only his back is visible.
Who the hell is he and what is he doing?
Walking on tiptoes to the kitchen, I slowly take a metal spatula and walk back to the living room, silently.
Clutching my wildly beating heart with one hand, and gripping the metal spatula tightly with the other, I slowly walk to the couch and hit his head.
Did I just hit him?
"What the fuck?" his hands fly to his head involuntarily.
He grunts and immediately stands up, looking behind him. Without wasting a second, I hit him on the head multiple times. My hits come to an abrupt halt when his fingers snake around my wrists and push my hands to him.
"Enne vidunga, na ungalukku icecream vangi tharren please" my voice comes out shaky in fear and I look at the man standing in front of me and take in his face, his black hair that sweeps across his forehead, and a scowl plastered on his face. His beautiful face.
What?
Did I just admire a thief-
"Who the fuck are you?" his icy voice pierces into my skin and his hot breath fans against my face as we were just inches away.
I hiss at his choice of words and glare at him.
"Yaarkitta vanthu enna kelvi kekkuran paarungalen" I mutter, a sarcastic chuckle leaving my lips.
He frowns at my words and his grip on my wrists loosens. I was quick to pull away my hands from his grasp and was about to kick him on where the sun doesn't shine when he quickly shoved me on the couch.
"Pulimurugannnnn" I yell, when my cat jumps on the attractive man's leg.
"Haa" I say triumphantly, standing up from the couch and looking at the man who was struggling with my cat. Puli attacks him, making him lose his balance and fall against me, which resulted in him being on top of me, while I was sprawled on the couch. My eyes widen and we both lock eyes, almost getting lost in his stupid beautiful eyes.
"fuck" he curses, still on top of me when puli scratches his face. I don't know whether I should laugh at him for struggling with puli or cry at him being on top of me.
"Enna nadakuthu inga?" a familiar voice rings out in the living room. We both turn our heads towards the voice and notice Parvathi standing with her arms crossed against her chest.
"Thirudan. Police ku call pannu" I yell, earning a glare from him. I look at Parvathi and give her a thumbs-up, saying I got him and she should call the police immediately.
"Shoo" my attention snaps back to the guy, still struggling with puli. Parvathi runs towards him and pulls puli to her.
"Ithu ennoda Anna Akshay" Parvathi holds back a laugh and helps her 'brother'
"Annan ah? Na thirudan uh nenachen" I admit and he scowls at me
"Vaaiye thoranthu sollalamla" I retort, standing up from the couch and moving away from it, just in case if he decides to fall on me again.
"Sollavittathane" he heaves out a sigh of frustration and looks between me and puli. Puli tries to get out of Parvathi's hold, but I quickly take him in my arms and pat him on the head.
"Puli, vidu na nalla irukken" I convince my cat, before kissing the top of his head. He stops trying and rests his face in my arms.
"Nee vara porenu sollave illaya da" she narrows her eyes at him
"Amma oda plan. Plaster enga irukku?" he asks, running a finger on his injured cheek, and silently winces when he pushes a little. I try to hold back a laugh but end up snorting in the most miserable way possible. My hand flies to my mouth, covering it, and look at the siblings to they are already staring at me.
Puli raises his head and looks at Akshay, while I try to hold back another laugh. I place my hand on puli's head and pat gently.
"Please take the cat elsewhere" Akshay says, glaring at puli.
