Before he could stop himself, he moves his index finger to the corner of her mouth and unhurriedly wipes the glaze of cinnamon rolls. Her eyes snap open at the contact of his finger and their eyes lock. Without breaking the eye contact, he slowly moves his finger off her and licks the glaze, setting everything inside of her on fire.
"When are we leaving?" she asks, looking at anything but him. He coughs and slowly walks away from her, the tension thick in their environment.
"Uh... Right after our breakfast" he says, washing his hands in the sink. Unable to take the thickening tension anymore, Saesha hops off the counter and walks out of the kitchen to the hallway, with a wildly beating heart.
'What just happened?' the butterflies in her stomach have multiplied tenfold as she thinks about what could have happened if she hadn't interrupted.
The sound of a message on Akshay's phone catches her eyes, as she accidentally peeks at the bright display.
Swetha: miss you maama😭💋💋
Oh.
He was fooling around with Saesha.
The message knocks the breath out of her, as she slowly walks away from the phone to the room. Closing the door behind her, she walks to the dressing mirror and looks at herself. She was not beautiful. She was afraid of everything. She had no family. And most of all, no one would want to get involved with her traumatic past.
Sasha wasn't all disappointed with Akshay. She was disappointed at herself for being a fool. For having feelings she wasn't supposed to have. What did she think? They would be parting ways in a few days. This isn't her permanent home-
A faint knock on the door breaks the train of thoughts she was having, as she quickly runs a hand through her not so tangled hair. Pulling her hair into a ponytail, she walks out of the room and almost bumps into Akshay for how closely he was standing near the door.
"Woah, slow down" He says.
"Sorry" she murmurs, before walking to the kitchen and washing her hands.
Without speaking any further, she takes her seat and studies her plate of food for a moment, before slowly digging into it.
"Is it okay-?"
"Yeah, thank you" she keeps her voice and head low, her eyes trained on the white ceramic plate in front of her. Frowning, Akshay takes a seat across from her and tries to read her expression.
"Is something wrong?"
"No. Thank you for the food" she says, before shoving down a roll and hurrying off to the kitchen.
She doesn't care if she looks like some sort of hungry animal anyways. She almost chokes on the roll, and coughs into her hands, silently. Tears brims her eyes at the burning sensation in her throat. She tries to swallow whatever is stuck in her throat, effortlessly.
