Chapter 18

I woke up and heard the shower running. It was getting really hot in August. It was already 65 degrees in the morning. When Rose got out of the shower she came out with the towel around her. She smiled at me and I went in and showered myself. I got dressed in the bathroom and we both packed our things.

We ate at the cafeteria and then left. We had to head back to Petalburg which meant more backtracking. When we hit Mauville again we went west to a small town called Verdanturf Town. It wasn't much. However, there was a tunnel that connected to Rustboro. We went through the small tunnel fighting off lots of wild Whismur. We traveled through Rustboro where was saw lots of people from Fortree. Finally after walking for what seemed like forever, we got to Petalburg. It looked a lot better since the fire when we were last here.

We went to the center and got a room. It was the same as most rooms. One bed, TV, bathroom. It was already 3. I plopped my stuff on the ground and went to bed. I woke up around six and Rose was asleep in her bra. I went down to the cafeteria. I just finished eating when she came in to get her own food.

She ate and then we headed to the gym. It was 7:30 and it was getting dark. We got to the gym and it was just a classic arena. Norman, the leader was standing in the ring alone. We walked to the steps into the ring and went up.

"Care for a battle?" I said. He turned and smiled.

"I'd be honored," he said. We got ready and he threw out Vigoroth and Spinda. We threw out Blade and Forest.

"Blade use slash!" Blade quickly took down Spinda, but Vigoroth nailed Blade immediately after. Blade barley recovered. Forest used a leaf blade and Vigoroth almost went down. Norman send out another Spinda. I had Blade take it down with one hit again knowing that he would be taken down by Vigoroth. Then Forest took out Vigoroth.

Norman now sent out another Vigoroth and a Slaking. I sent out Skyskater.

"Use surf!" She drenched both Vigoroth and Slaking but they were still standing. Slaking hit Forest very hard and Vigoroth finished him off. Willow came out. Another surf came from Skyskater and both of Norman's pokemon were hurting.

Willow used a bullet seed and took down Vigoroth. Slaking used hyper beam and took down Skyskater. I threw out Rocky. Slaking seemed to be doing nothing. We attacked full force and won. We got the balance badge and went back to the center. It was 8:30 and we were tired from traveling.

We got the room and I sat on the floor.

"Nice job," said Rose.

"Thanks," I said. "You too." She came and sat next to me on the floor and put her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her. She looked up and kissed me. "Goodnight," she said going up to the bed.

"Goodnight," I said. Rose too off her shirt and so did I. She turned on the tv and I watched from the ground. They weren't really talking about much. I closed my eyes and fell asleep to the sound of the TV anchor.
