Chapter 6

I woke up to the sound of water running. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes. I saw light from under the bathroom door. I heard singing. I was pretty sure it was Rose in the shower. The singing was beautiful. I smiled as I listened and I gathered up some clothes to change into when I shower.

The water shut off and after a minute Rose came out with a towel around her. "Morning, sleepyhead," she said smiling.

"Hey," I said. I gathered my things, showered and then got dressed. I came out and Rose was wearing a yellow t-shirt and short shorts. We had both packed the night before. We ate breakfast in the cafeteria and said good bye to Nurse Joy.

"Oh, you'll see me again," she said,"I have a pager that beeps whenever a center needs to be attended and my pokemon just fly me there." That was nice to know because she was really nice.

We finally left the town and headed to the west. We started on the next route. It was 8:30. We decided to leave in the morning because we thought it would be nice to have a long rest time after the route.

"We should be there by 9," said Rose.

"Can't wait," I said. After 5 minutes a man approached us asked for a battle. He said he had two pokemon and would be glad to battle us both at the same time. We agreed and had our first battle together.

The man sent out a Vulpix and a Marill. We sent out our pokemon and we beat him. Having Wingull use water moves on Vulpix and Seedot use grass on Marill it was pretty easy. The man gave us 462 dollars and walked back towards Oldale. We fought many trainers along the way, together and alone. By the time we were 5 minutes away from Petalburg, Skyskater was level 12 and Willow was level 10.

We kept walking and saw the entrance to Petalburg. It was 9:30. We lost some time when we were battling. We got to the entrance and high-fived. We made it. The city was very big. There was a nice pool on the edge of town where people were swimming. Shops all over the place. We walked down the streets where everyone greeted us kindly. We got to the center and Joy was there.

"Hey!" She said,"room for two?"

"Yes please," I said. She gave me a key and I handed her Skyskater in her ball. Rose gave her Willow. We walked upstairs and went into room 4. We walked in. There was a bathroom a TV and one queen bed. "You can have the bed," I said.

"But I had it last time," Rose said.

"It's fine," I said.

She smiled,"thanks."

"Yep." We unpacked and took a nap. It was 2:00 when we woke up. We went and got some food at the cafeteria and a lady came up to us and handed us our pokemon. We thanked her.

"I wonder why there's only one bed," Rose said.

"They probably don't want to scare all the new trainers away in Oldale so they made it seem nice and comfy."

We ate and then went outside and checked out the gym. We went inside where spectators from around the city were watching the leader Norman take on a trainer. Norman had out a Vigoroth and the trainer had out a Beautifly.

"Use slash, Vigoroth!" Yelled Norman. The pokemon vigorously slashed at the Beautifly causing it to fall. The trainer fell to his knees crying. Rose tapped my leg.

"Let's get out of here," she said. We left quickly and went back to the center and hung out at the center until about 11:00. That's when we heard the first screams.
