Chapter 4

We took our first step into the route. Rose squeezed my hand harder. We walked a bit and she let go. After about a minute of walking we came to some grass that came up to our waist.

"Wild pokemon live in there don't they?" Asked Rose.

"Yeah," we walked a bit and when we thought we were safe a black figure jumped out and scratched my face, sending me into a tree as I fell to the ground. I was disoriented and couldn't see too well. I felt the creature bite me and I heard Rose yell, "Willow! Go! Use bullet seed!" I heard the black creature whimper and then I heard Rose come to me. I had a large scar on my face. I felt her touch it and I flinched.

"I'm sorry," she said. She sat and rubbed my back for a minute until I got up. Rose gasped when she saw my face. It must have been bad. "I see why people quit so early," I said,"let's keep moving." Rose took my hand.

"Oldale Town is only a few minute away. We should be there by 9:30. We can explore and stay the night there."

"Ok," I said. After a little bit Rose said,"Willow grew to level 6," she said.

"Nice," I said smiling. I let Skyskater out of his ball and then I saw something in the bushes. It looked like the same thing that attacked me. I tapped my watch and looked at Skyskater's attacks. He was only level five.

"Skyskater, use water gun!" I shouted. Skyskater blasted water out of her mouth and the black figure fell to the ground, drenched. I looked at it.

"A poochyena," I said,"we get them all the time in the day care because they're so out shadowed and don't listen well."

"Poor pokemon," said Rose.

"Yeah," I said. I heard bells in the distance. "Rose look!" In the distance we saw Oldale town. It was a little bigger than Littleroot and looked very nice and calm. There was a mart and a pokemon center as well as about ten houses. I knew there was no gym here because I had to study the Hoenn cities in school but I had never seen it in person.

We ran to the city, eager to get my face healed up, as well as rest. We got to the entrance and walked in. My shirt was stained. Rose tied her hair back with a pony tail. We walked slowly. It was very quiet. The bells must have signaled some sort of meeting. I checked my watch and it was about 9:45. We walked until we found a pokemon center. We walked in and I talked to the receptionist with pink hair.

"Hi we'd like a room to stay in here please?" I asked.

"No problem," the nurse said,"all pokemon center services are free. We'll tend to your scratch in just a bit and we'll give your pokemon a soothing massage and meal."

"Sounds great," said Rose. Rose got the room key and gave me Willow's ball. I handed the two pokeballs to the nurse and she asked me to go with her. I did and she showed me where the spa was. As well as the pokemon play room. She told me her name was Joy and she was very nice.

"Patty will be taking care of your two pokemon," said nurse Joy.

"Thank you," I said. I brought Skyskater in her ball and handed the balls to Patty.

"Come with me," said nurse Joy. She took me to another room by ourselves and she had me sit down. She went to a cabinet and took a small tube of liquid out. She put the liquid on a napkin and started to dab my scratch. "It should be gone by morning," she said smiling when she finished up,"your room is number 12. You'll find your nice young lady there."

"Thank you," I said. I walked back down the hall until I got the main room and then I walked up the stairs. I found room 12 and I walked in. Rose was watching pokemon news to see what was going on. There were two queen sized beds and a bathroom.

"Hey," Rose said,"Turns out there is a few shops in town. Want to go after we eat?"

"Sure."

"Great," Rose said smiling. "Just warning you that when I nap or sleep during the summer I tend to sleep in a bra or shirtless because it's really hot out. Especially during this July."

"Are you hitting on me?" I asked her.

"No," she said,"I want our relationship to be more like siblings you know? I just think we should familiarize ourselves with each other's casualties. I'm just giving you a heads up."

"Ok thanks," I said. She took off her shirt and went to sleep in her beige bra. I pulled off my shirt as well and turned on a fan, then went to bed.

I woke up around 3 and Rose was gone. I got dressed and then went downstairs to eat some lunch. I went to the cafeteria in the center and found Rose eating, Skyskater sleeping on the table, and Willow happily running around the table. She smiled at me and I sat next to her. A waitress came up to me.

"What would you like, sir?" She asked.

"Just a salad please," I said. I didn't want to order a lot. I pet Skyskater's soft feathers and she cooed softly. "When do you want to go shopping?" I asked Rose.

"I guess around five. I want to go out to dinner. As a family," she said,"me, you, Skyskater, and Willow. Who knows of we'll ever be able to have a meal for just us four again? I think it'd be nice to go out to eat."

"Sounds good. Then we can shop like you wanted?"

"Yes!" She said, her face full of excitement, "I only have like seven shirts that I could fit in my bag. So I would like a bigger bag and some for shirts."

"Alright," I said. The salad came and I ate. When I was done with lunch I walked around the center and saw a room. It has people in there and it looked like they were having pokemon battles. I walked in.

"Hey squirt!" Yelled a guy,"let's battle!" I looked around,"don't worry," the man said with a big grin,"it's a pokemon center. Training purposes only."

"Ok then," I said. I stepped up onto the mat where the battles took place while everyone around watched. Skyskater was level six from defeating the Poochyena earlier. I brought out my Pokeball. I stared down the man. A random guy stood up and yelled,"Battle!"

We each through out our pokemon. From the other man's ball emerged an Aron.

"Titanium!" Yelled the man. That must have been his pokemon's name,"use rock tomb!"

"Skyskater dodge," I shouted,"use water gun!" Skyskater spun away from the rocks hurling towards her and shot water from her mouth at the Aron. Aron stumbled back. I checked my watch. It scanned Aron quickly. His hp was very low.

"Skyskater finish with a wing attack!" Skyskater shot a gust of wind at Aron as it got up, sending it back to the ground. The trainer withdrew Aron. The crowd cheered. I brought back Skyskater. He had grown to level 8.

"Amazing!" The trainer said,"What is your name?"

"Skye." The room got silent.

"How old are you...Skye?"

"17." A gasp from the audience.

"Do you happen to be traveling with a lady companion?"

"Yeah Rose wa-" I was cut off by a gasp. I heard people saying "could it be?" And "no way". The trainer shook my hand. The people said it was an honor to meet me. What the heck was going on?

I left the room and went back upstairs. I walked in and Rose was playing with Willow.

I told Rose what happened. "Why did he ask about me?" Rose asked.

"How would I know?" There came a knock at the door. I opened it and the man I had battled was there.

"Just to let you know," he said,"my Aron was level 12." He walked away back down the hall.

"12?!" Rose exclaimed.

"I had no idea. It's five, Rose. Are you ready?"

She smiled,"yeah. Let's go."
