Nico POV
Nico sat under an oak tree. He was at school, or has he liked to call it: a Hell whole.
He went to a public school that was as strict as a private. The whole school was surrounded by a chain-link fence. A playground on one side, and a little patch of forest. And yes the fence went though the forest.
No one really went into the forest, just Nico. Nico was extremely short for being in 11th grade, but he was also only 15, while the rest of his class mates ran from 17-19 years of age. He was the runt.
Meaning the main source of bulling. Almost every time Nico walked down those cursed halls he was slammed, tripped, or pushed into a locker.
Teachers always seemed to be annoyed with him. Always wearing black. Black ripped jeans. Black converses. Black under tank top with a scull on it. A black jacket. A black beanie. And his black stoned earrings. All against school dress code. You had to where blue jeans with an orange or purple shirt.
Nico was smart, and got his work done one time, but he never participated in class...ever. The only class Nico enjoyed being in was A.P Lit. His teacher Pluto seemed to be the only one paying attention to him. They never talked much, but more than once Nico had caught Pluto looking over in his direction with cold, questioning coal black/brown eyes.
Pluto was not a favorite among the children of Half-Demi high-school. But Nico enjoyed the silent, always dressed in a suit, teacher. He was quiet, and would let Nico read during a lesson. Not once did Pluto call on Nico.
Looking down at his report paper due tomorrow he sighed, one thing he did struggle with was math. It had been the only factor making him stay in high-school, not able to move onto college.
"Woe, woe...look who we found here!" whooped a boy named Jason. He was Nico's bully.
"Little emo Italian?" joked Percy.
Nico looked away, shoving his blank report, pencil, and note book into his book bag. Quickly he stood up, swinging his bag onto my shoulder, he started a brisk pace past my bullies.
"Where'd ya think you're going?" sneered Percy, is sea green eyes mocking me.
Nico stayed silent, as Percy grabbed Nico's shoulder and shoved him up against the tree.
"Percy, hold him," Jason snapped.
Percy grabbed Nico's arms and pinned them painfully to the younger boy's back.
"So, emo, what are we going to do today?" Jason asked. Slowly drawing a finger under Nico's chin.
Flinching away, Nico stayed silent. Letting the ordeal take its course. This was normal, Jason and Percy would beat him up and walk away. So why was Jason making this longer?
Jason's eyes narrowed at the flinch, and he snapped, "Is little emo too scared of the big bad Jason?"
Nico shrunk into a smaller target, if Jason didn't hurry up. He'd be late for class.
Jason's lip curled, and Nico couldn't help but feel a tang of guilt. Why did he make Jason do such an ugly face? Why must Jason always sneer at him? It's because he was Nico. And everyone was disgusted by him.
"Go ahead, get over with," Nico whispered softly, his voice cracking.
Jason's fists flashed out as quick as his insults. Each punch landing terrible blows on the poor Italian. Each strike came with a even more painful insult.
Taking one last jab at Nico, Jason said, "Percy let go."
Crumpling to the ground, Nico coughed out blood, his body littered with angry, dark bruises.
"No wonder your sister and mother left you," spat Jason. "You're a disgrace."
Nico bit his lip, trying to stop tears from falling, he hadn't cried sense...and curled into fetal position once again.
