-------

For Jin's sake, Taehyung tried to treat him normally. The others did too. He got sad easily, and despite everything, the others tried to give him some comfort. Unlike him, Taehyung would never struggle with a guilty conscience.

Truth be told, he didn't know how or why Jin dealt with anything.

-------

Soon after the whole accident had happened and he had actually understood that the majority of the fault was his, Jin had fallen into a deep ocean that he couldn't seem to swim out of.

The others hated him, he knew. They tried to forgive him but it was hard. He knew. If he had been in their position, he wouldn't have been able to do it either. He wouldn't even have tried.

But they did. And somehow it made everything worse. Jin didn't need their pity, didn't need their forced smiles and happiness. It was too painful to watch. They should be horrible to him, refuse to talk to him, heck, kick him out of the group even.

But treat him with so much caution? As if they were still testing the waters of their relationship?

No, it was awful.

-------

More than anything, Jin struggled to move past the incident. It seemed to haunt all his waking thoughts, from the morning he woke up to the time he finally fell into a restless sleep.

He knew the others were watching him. He was paranoid.

For example, today, he could see the others eyeing him carefully.

"Do you think that you guys will be able to move forward together after everything that has happened?" the manager asked.

"I think we can," Namjoon said, ever the optimist. "What do we think?"

Hoseok nodded. Taehyung joined in. Yoongi frowned and stayed quiet. Looking at all their reactions, Jin seemed to pale.

"I know we can," Taehyung quickly said. "It's just a matter of starting to work together again and matching everyone's senses."

"Yeah."

Jungkook twisted his lip.

"That's what I was thinking," the manager said. "Jin, do you have something to add?"

Jin looked like a deer caught in headlights. He quickly shook his head. Taehyung felt a twinge of guilt run through him, but he quickly snapped out of it. What had he done anyway? He'd been injured too. Only Jin was to blame for that. But was there any point in still being mad? He didn't feel sick or hurt anymore, but there was always that lingering fear. He didn't feel comfortable in cars anymore. He remembered Yoongi yelling about that once. It made him cringe.

He told himself that he'd never have a guilty conscience, and he would stick to that promise.

"I think we can," Taehyung said again. "Right guys?"

Yoongi shrugged. "Sure."

Jin seemed to relax. The empty hole in his chest seemed to get filled a little bit. At least there was somebody who cared about him. He exchanged a casual look with Taehyung, who smiled at him gently. He knew that the others tried. But it was hard. He knew that too. He knew it was hard to even think of forgiving someone who had caused so much pain, even if it was by accident.

At the very least, Jin hoped that the others realized how sorry he was and how bad he felt. He hadn't meant for any of this to happen. If he had known the consequences, he would've never fallen asleep at the wheel. He would've been responsible.
