Grace
I slowly dress Mia and Tia after being fed and bathed, we are taking them back to Ray Steele and giving him the rescinded adoption papers. We are back on the list for babies, but will take older children. We have told the boys and they have said there goodbyes to Mia and Tia and packed all there beautiful little outfits and moving the cribs to the Steele home today. Carrick found out about my illegal actions and he wasn't thrilled with me and he suggested I throw myself on the mercy of the courts. I am pretty sure Ray knows and hasn't turned me in yet. I have hired a criminal attorney to help me out in this situation. So far he has said the words human trafficking to me and that comes with heavy fines and jail time.
Carrick
I can't help her now and she handled this all wrong. We should have never flown to New York for a baby to begin with. I should have checked this all out before we left to get the girls. We have learned a huge lesson and Grace is going to pay for her desperation to adopt a baby girl. The boys said goodbye, but said they can always visit them next door if we allowed them to. I tell them it is up to mr Steele and they said that he is a nice man and would allow them to visit their sisters. The innocence of youth it is great, but sadly naïve.
Gail
Someone knocks on the door and I see Grace and Carrick bringing the babies home and I open the door as Ray and Jason come out to help them inside with everything. They have help bringing in the cribs along with everything they bought for the girls. Everything is put inside the room that Anastasia is in. There was plenty of room for everything. Clothes and all. Grace tells us their little quirks and different little hints about their crying jags.
Grace
We have an appointment to see an attorney about what Carol did and my part in it. The boys would love to visit their sisters now and again. I look at Raymond Steele and realize I betrayed him and not just once but every time I held his daughters like they belonged to me, when I found out the truth I should have asked for the DNA tests and gone from there. Carrick told me the same thing. But like the stupidity of wiring fifty thousand dollars to Carol to obtain Mia and Tia was the stupidest thing I could ever have done in my entire life.
Raymond
They are very welcome to visit Mia and Tia should they wish to. I am still not happy about how this happened but the hospital itself should have been more careful about the babies and if they used more secure methods your friend wouldn't have been able to do this even if you gave the cash. She was able to basically abscond with five babies and no one batted an eye at her and her fellow drug addict. In the end she is dead and her killer is going to be away for life. Murdering her was not the only charge he was facing five kidnapping charges, including Mia and Tia. They basically kidnapped them by giving them to you. I hope you don't do this again. You might be serving time for all of this and personally I think you should. What really rattles my cage is that you are a pediatrician and you see what people do to innocent babies and children of all ages and yet you thought giving a drug addict money for my daughters. What goes through your mind? I think you shouldn't be allowed to treat children at all. But we have them back and they were well cared for thank you very much for that. We will keep the names but change the last name to Steele. I will send you photos but right now I think that you Grace should not be allowed around them until I feel you can be trusted again. Carrick I am assuming you just found out about the money she gave Carol?
Carrick
She just told me and I am not happy about it one bit. I would have stopped her had I known what she was doing. I did ask her why we had to go to New York to pick up a couple of babies. They have girls and women surrendering their babies here all the time. I even tried to get her to wait until one came up, but she was desperate and fell prey to her friends abilities to talk her into things just like she did to her in college. I am so sorry you missed three months with your daughters Ray, nothing can make up for those moments stolen from you in Mia and Tias case and you boys as well. If you need anything about their medical history let us know, we ordered them, but it takes time to get them ready and I felt you should have your daughters back immediately. What are your sons named?
Raymond
Gary Edward, Joshua Lee and Steven Louis Steele all named after fallen comrades. I think they will be looking down from heaven either cursing me for naming my boys after them or smiling because I even remembered their names. Who knows.
Carrick
I should get Grace home and get her ready for the attorney representing her.
Ray
Wait a minute I have something for you, it might help, but I am doing this for you Christian and Elliott and not Grace. You three shouldn't suffer because of her actions. Robert says this was very difficult to trace to anyone so it might help in her defense in any matter. We could only trace it so far and the only thing that might be presented is the coincidence of the time the deposit was wired and the withdrawal of the money. Otherwise they weren't in contact other than phone calls and we couldn't prove anything by those either. Good luck Carrick and you and the boys can visit any time. Right now keep Grace away from here until I feel she can be trusted at all.
Carrick
I will and thanks for allowing me and the boys to visit the girls. I say goodbye and hand him the files and take Grace home. Home to face the music and atone for her wrongdoings.
Six months later she was suspended from her job until after she does a thousand hours of community service. She chose the free clinic to do it at. I wasn't fond of the idea, but most places that need community service workers are not the best areas of town, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve good medical treatment and Grace us a good doctor. Luckily she got her vacation pay which was a lot of money. She cries a lot, but for now we are getting through this one day at a time. The judge wasn't going to go so easy on her until Raymond, Gail and Jason came forward on her behalf. She had abided by his restrictions if her not seeing Mia and Tia and advised the judge that she had changed and could be trusted. The girls are six months old now. So she has been without them for three months and not once did she try to go see them.
