Getting up at the crack of dawn was something a demon slayer was used to. Hayami quickly got dressed in her uniform, along with her socks and sandals. The last thing she did was slip on the leg warmers Rengoku gave her before tying her hair up similar to how Rengoku ties his own. Ever since her hair tie broke, Hayami started styling her hair similar to the boy.
As she walked around the butterfly estate, Hayami noticed that Kanae hadn't returned. "That's odd, she left right after nine last night. How has she not returned?" Hayami thought to herself.
The girl was pacing around only to find Shinobu tying Kanao's hair on the patio. Once again, Kanae was nowhere to be seen.
"Good morning Shinobu-chan, Kanao-chan" she greeted as she neared the two.
Shinobu merely nodded as a greeting. The air was quite awkward. Hayami never had a full-length conversation with the younger Kocho sibling. Seeing that Shinobu was also a part of the demon slayer corps, she wondered if she participated in Kanao's training
"Shinobu-chan, if I may ask, does Kanao train with you as well?" Hayami questioned.
Shinobu turned to look at Hayami, "Of course not! Kanae trains her so I don't have to participate in her training. Although she might eventually take care of herself, Kanae has decided to treat her as our own sibling and worries for her safety so I will do the same." She answered snarkily.
Despite her sharp tone, Hayami knew that Shinobu cared for Kanao, just as her elder sister did.
"I see. Are you training to be a hashira too?" Hayami asked once more, in an attempt to break the ice.
"I want to follow in my sister's footsteps, so I will become a hashira; but unlike her, I'm going to kill all the demons. I would never pity them and I couldn't care less if we could cure them. It is against the demon slayer code to let a demon live when we have the chance to slay them. . . So I will." Shinobu answered as her brows curled together at the thought of the demons that roamed the night.
As much as Hayami wanted the younger Kocho to understand both her and Kanae's ideals, it will take quite a while for her to understand them. Hayami knew that the Kocho siblings have had a very rough past ━ Kanae wanted to take the mature step and see the potential in living amongst the demons that exist; she pitied the demons for being heartless creatures. But Shinobu really resented demons, she found them utterly cruel and disgusting. Even when she goes on missions, she never wishes her opponents to rest in peace. If anything, they could all go to hell for their crimes and actions. Especially Kibutsuji Muzan.
The present hashira's had never encountered the demon king, but they have all heard stories. Kibutsuji Muzan was the first demon to exist, and surprisingly he is of the same bloodline as the Ubuyashiki family. One of the reasons why Kagaya had his curse. Kanae said that he turned into a demon whilst trying to cure his own terminal illness. And as of right now, he plans to accomplish the ability to live without the fear of death. But since demons are weak to the sunlight, he aspires to find the blue spider lily, or create more demons in hopes that one day one would be able to conquer their weakness.
