Getting used to the environment of the demon slayer corps was not an easy task, every day there were either one or two ━ possibly, even more, ━ demon slayers that had gotten injured, some had just passed the final selection, whilst others were just passing by to patch up their injuries.
And Hayami, now a resident in the butterfly mansion, has to treat most of them. Although she could only do minor treatments as of now, Kanae was surprised at how quickly she had adapted to her surroundings. The girl did most of her tasks muted, she didn't speak unless she was spoken to or if it was necessary for her to speak to her patients.
Even though Hayami was quite busy in the butterfly mansion, she was more than happy to do her tasks as she was used to doing chores back home.
"Home." She thought to herself, this new environment is her home now, and no matter how hard she tries to leave the memories in the past, Hayami kept coming back to that day.
The day she failed to protect the last person she had in her life. It has only been three weeks, hence she assumed the grief was normal. Nevertheless, Hayami was happy to now have more people in her life ━ despite only knowing them for a short amount of time ━ She felt content with the people around her in the present. Despite having only minor conversations here and there, the place she was in now felt so much livelier rather than being alone; which was what she had to live with most of her life.

"Hayami-chan" She heard someone call out from behind her, turning her head to see Kanae there. Her lips curved up into a small grin at the female, Hayami had grown quite close with the flower hashira, as she was the first person she conversed with her whole life that was around her age, and the first person whom she could call, a friend.
"Yes, Kanae? Is there something wrong?" Hayami questioned as she walked towards the flower hashira.
Kanae shook her head softly, "No, everything is going quite well actually. But Gyomei-san is here for you," she replied, giving her usual close-eyed smile as she gestured her arm at the area where Gyomei was.
As the two neared the stone hashira, it was as if he could hear their footsteps from miles away ━ seeing that he turned his head the moment they were near him.
"Here you go Gyomei-san, one diligent helper named Nakamura Hayami," Kanae announced with her ever so melodic voice before taking her to leave. Hayami nodded at the female as a sign of goodbye before turning back to the giant in front of her.
"You asked for me Gyomei-san?" She asked, the man had visited her multiple times throughout her stay at the butterfly mansion, and he had treated Hayami as if she were his own offspring.
