Ever since her realization of her very own feelings, Hayami often felt herself daydreaming about the flame hashira. As much as she wished she would have pushed thoughts about him until the end of the day, Hayami couldn't help herself as her thoughts kept trailing off.
She didn't understand why she only realized her feelings now, maybe it was her lack of knowledge of the topic.
"Hayami-san"
But Rengoku had always been ethereal to her, his long golden locks as they faded into a crimson red, and his eyes. His eyes were the most beautiful shade in existence.
"Hayami-san"
As those golden irises faded into a bright red, Hayami found herself picturing getting lost in them. And she won't even start on how he treats other people and herself. He was such a strong person, both mentally and physically, he often put the safety of others over himself.
"Hayami-san~!"
The peace hashira blinked several times in realization, she was in too deep picturing the flame hashira in her head that she hadn't heard Shinobu's calls to her. She turned to look at the insect hashira, bowing slightly as an apology.
"I apologize, Shinobu-chan. . . I didn't hear you" Hayami said softly.
The insect hashira smiled at the elder female as she waved her hand, "It's okay Hayami-san, I wonder what has gotten you in a daze~!" Shinobu replied.
"Ah. . . Well. . ." Hayami attempted to explain her situation, but since it was her first time experiencing anything of the sort, she had no idea how to elaborate anything to Shinobu.
As she stared down at the wooden floorboards, Hayami heard Shinobu speak the words she was not able to.
"Is it about Rengoku-san~?" She said teasingly.
Hayami felt her entire face heat up at the insect hashira's words. She looked up to face the younger female, her eyes widened and her lips clasped tightly together.
"I see~! It is about him~!" Shinobu continued as she clasped her two hands together.
"How did you know that, Shinobu-chan?" Hayami questioned her face still as red as a tomato.
"Well, you don't really keep it a secret amongst everyone~!" Shinobu teased.
Hayami flushed at Shinobu's words, she didn't feel like her face could get any warmer, but it did. Now she really wished Rengoku would come back from his mission early so she'd be able to talk to him about these butterflies.
The two hashiras walked towards the courtyard of the butterfly estate, throughout the way Shinobu teased Hayami multiple times about her newfound feelings towards the flame hashira. The three young demon slayers that have been under Shinobu's care, have been training hard to execute total concentration breathing, even Hayami was amazed seeing them train to pull giant boulders and push their physical strength to the limit.
