"The demon I had to attack was quite the young girl" The insect hashira spoke softly as she and the peace hashira walked around the butterfly estate. Shinobu had just returned from a mission, a few hours prior.
"Is that so?" Hayami questioned softly.
The younger hashira hummed in response, "Her features were completely pale, she was milky-white from head to toe. I attempted to be friends with her. . . But she lied in order to answer my question, so I beheaded her~! I think she was related to the lower moon five Tomioka-san was tasked to." She explained.
"Lower moon five? So the demon I defeated a year ago has been replaced and killed too" Hayami thought to herself.
Forming a friendship with demons was nearly impossible, as much as Hayami would have loved to attempt it, the creatures wouldn't even dare to start a conversation as all they wanted was to eat humans. It was one of the ideals Kocho Kanae had, to live amongst the demons. And it seems that Shinobu started using her late elder sister's ideals instead of her own ever since that tragic day.
Hayami saw Shinobu take a jar before filling it with water, she added painkillers to dissolve in the liquid before closing the lid.
"What is that for Shinobu-chan?" The peace hashira questioned.
"I'm sure the boy would need it later" She answered as the two started heading towards the entrance of the butterfly estate.
Multiple members of the Kakushi flowed in, amongst the Kakushi, there was Kanao. Several months ago the girl appeared at the butterfly estate, with minimal scratches after passing the final selection. Ever since Kanae's death, Shinobu took over the training her elder sister had in store for Kanao. It turns out, that whenever she disappeared from anyone's sight, she had been training flower breathing on her own. The girl always had a quiet and serene demeanor and has risen in her rank in the demon slayer corps quite fast. It was a surprise for everyone inhabiting the butterfly estate when she came back with a Kasugai crow on her shoulder ━ she had entered the final selection and passed without anyone knowing.
"Kanao-chan, please see to the injured from the battle" Shinobu spoke to her tsuguko.
The young girl merely nodded in response. It has been five years since Hayami first met her, and she has gotten to see the young girl blossom into quite a teenager. Her hair had gotten longer but it was still in the same ponytail secured with the very same butterfly hairpin Hayami had in her own hair. Kanae's.
Although Kanao was not biologically related to the Kocho sisters, she started to look more like Shinobu day by day.
Hayami and Shinobu started pacing their way to the Ubuyashiki estate. It was time for the semi-annual hashira meeting. The boy Shinobu mentioned earlier, was what they will be discussing. From what the insect hashira told her, a boy named Kamado Tanjiro who was a demon slayer has been bringing a demon along with him on his missions. One of which is against the rules of the demon slayer corps. Shinobu mentioned that she attempted to behead the demon during her mission earlier, but Tomioka Giyuu stopped her by any means possible.
