"We're a mess you and I, but the truth is, you captivate me in ways no soul ever will."

Natara stared at the wall with a guilt so heavy it pushed down onto her chest. And the outrage that flowed through her was enough to leave her panting. She looked closely at the photo of where the explosion had taken place and carried on reading.

Without leaving herself time to reconsider, Natara stood and walked out. She passed the room she'd showered in on the way. It had turned out that Bruce hadn't been joking about the hot water and she'd had the mind to do something about it when she realized that her reaction could cause him to go green-- something she didn't at all mind-- but remembered there were children here who could get hurt. So she'd shoved it aside but had remained in a foul mood since.

Natasha stared at a wall blankly, memories flooding her mind. A knock snapped her out of her daze and her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she thought of who it could be. Opening the door, Nat came face to face with the pair of green eyes that felt as if they'd branded her mind.

"Can I come in?" Natara asked and walked past her before she could answer. She waited until Natasha was facing her before talking. "I did some research. On you. On your past." Natasha's expression revealed nothing. "I got some people to give me information on the Red Room." Nat went still. "You mentioned it when talking to Bruce. I now feel that my earlier scene was a little cruel. I'd like to apologize."

Nat blinked but found no pity in her gaze. None. Only sadness, a deep and heavy sadness and understanding. And anger. A lot of anger.

"I didn't know." The words were short. Clipped. Frustrated and angry. Natara looked as if she was losing her cool demenour.

Nat's brows furrowed slightly. "How would you-"

"The Red Room. I didn't know- didn't know it existed or that kids. Little girls." Natara's face turned pained and her voice strained.

Confusion and worry etched deep into Nat's eyes at the pure pain and anger on Natara's face. But then it was gone, as fast as a blink. Natara seeming to shake it off.

"I'm sorry that happened to you. More than you'll ever understand. And if I could kill him for it- for what he did to you- to those girls-" That pained expression appeared once more and Natara looked away and took a breath. "I'd kill him for it." The few seconds of silence were used by the blonde to gather herself. She then smiled softly, a proud and gentle look seeping into her eyes, one Natasha had never seen. "But you already did that."

Nat stared at her for a while, gazing really. Hope bloomed in her chest. That this could be the time she learnt about Natara and that the blonde assassin could be saved. "And what about you?" She asked, hiding the nervousness she felt at asking about Natara's past. Those green eyes turned assessing as they looked at her, Nat holding her breath.

Natara grinned. "Cancer sister, remember?" She couldn't help the small part of her that twinged as Nat's own face fell slightly. A knock against the door had both women's heads turning. Natara's hand flashed to her blade. Her nerves were frayed and had her extremely on edge. Natasha noticed but said nothing. The door opened to reveal a brunette with soft eyes.

"Laura," Nat greeted softly. The woman gave her arm a squeeze before her eyes drifted to Natara behind her.

"Oh, you're both here. I came to let you know you have a visitor." She sent a warm smile to the blonde but didn't receive one in return. Laura had spent enough time around people who didn't like opening up. Meaning she'd learnt how to read them instead. And it was clear that the assassin was stressed and anxious. She felt her eyes soften, imagining what the girl with the mind powers had shown her.
