"Two broken people will either fit together perfectly or destroy
each other beyond repair."
_______The days passed quickly and before anyone knew it, two months had gone by. Two months filled with what had become routine. The days were taken up with training, both individually and as a team. And the team themselves had become a sort of unit despite having never been deployed together, yet.
Natara walked into Steve's office. She'd fallen back into her old self over the weeks, to everyone's joy and also dismay. With the normal her came the sharp words and insufferable arrogance. But they were happy to see it, Nat, Steve, and Wanda the most.
Steve looked up at the entry and his welcoming smile dropped when he saw her expression.
"Why is there an ongoing mission I wasn't made aware of?" She asked, knowing she wasn't doing a good job of hiding her anger.
"What mission?" Steve asked, confused. A stack of papers was dropped onto his desk, letting off a loud smack.
"Brock Rumlow. You've been searching for him. Is there a particular reason I wasn't informed?"
Steve understood now, eyes glancing at the papers for only a second before going back to Natara. "We didn't see the point," Steve answered honestly, "We've had no information on the guy since 2014 besides the odd report now and then which never lead anywhere."
Natara's green eyes scanned Steve's face and she decided he was telling the truth. "Good enough." She was slightly embarrassed to have made a scene but brushed it off. "Fine."
Steve smiled but tried his hardest not to show it, knowing she wouldn't react well. However, Natara saw this and shot him a withering glare. She turned on her heel and stalked out.
"Never a bad thing to show you care, Faez!"
Natara heard the words and her scowl deepened. "nadhl," She muttered. (Bastard).
Her phone pinged and Natara looked down to see a message from Wanda.
Don't forget the books x
Natara cursed herself. She'd completely forgotten and so changed direction immediately, heading to the library instead.
________
Natara shut Wanda's door with a soft click. She'd wanted Natara to get her more studying books, having advanced in their French lessons. The blonde had dropped them off and now wanted something to eat.
She headed down to the kitchen but paused as soon as she got in, surprised by the red hair on the other side of the open fridge door. "Natasha."
Natasha stood up straight, quickly looking to see Natara in the kitchen as well. The redhead smirked at her look of surprise. "Miss me?"
She'd been gone for a week, having informed everyone of her leaving but not of her reasons for doing so.
"You're back," Natara said warily, drawing closer to the spy. Her sharp eyes immediately landed on a faint bruise along Nat's jaw and Natara's hand shot out quickly and unconsciously, fingers holding her chin and forcing her head sideways, though of course she did so gently. "What happened?"
Nat's smirk slowly disappeared and she easily moved her head of Natara's grip. "Training exercises."
The blonde's eyes narrowed. "With who?" She knew Natasha and her's relationship had been a bit shaky after her trip to Thailand but they'd gotten it back to normal a few weeks ago and realized they worked really well as partners. And as far as Natara was aware, the only person Natasha seriously sparred with was her.
