"I can never understand which is more painful
The lies I believed
or
The truths I did not."
________
"Is anyone going to tell me who Ultron actually is?" Natara asked, putting on a sarcastic smile. She lounged comfortably in one of the quinjet's many seats. Entirely at ease."A robot."
Her attention snapped to Steve and a disbelieving laugh left her lips. "Artificial intelligence." She scoffed. "I'm not even surprised." Everyone remained silent, staring ahead of them and pretending she wasn't there.
Nat's eyes kept going to Natara despite her will not to. That suit was just so attractive. As if sensing her eyes and thoughts, Natara looked up and raised an eyebrow as she looked right at her. Natasha simply leveled her a bored stare before turning to her right, where Bruce was now in her line of sight. She gave him a small smile.
Natara followed her eyes and felt curiosity flare up inside of her. "You turn big and green, right? "The Hulk."" The man in question just looked away and she sighed and let out a groan. "So boring," she muttered.
"This isn't a game," Steve snapped and she shot him a bored look.
"Well obviously. Games are fun." She said it as if it were the most obvious thing and Steve just looked away, jaw clenched. She grew slightly serious. "How do you plan on stopping this "Ultron?" And does he have any allies or weapons?"
"The twins," Natasha answered, watching as Natara's eyes landed on her and her eyebrows lifted up, silently telling her to go on. She took a breath. "The brother's fast and his sister is telekinetic and telepathic." She watched as Natara's eyes shot downwards and saw her eyebrows furrow. The blonde looked back up and Nat could swear something like embarrassment glinted in those green eyes. And the fact that Natara refused to make eye contact for once was another sign.
"Meaning?" Natara asked, looking at the wall instead of the people around her. She cleared her throat slighty.
"What? Telekinetic and telepathic?" Tony asked.
Natara just stuck out her jaw and straightened up, refusing to show how much her pride took a beating. "Yes." She then hesitated. "Some English words still confuse me."
Tony hummed before shrugging. "She can move things without touching them and she can get into your mind."
Nat's hand shot to her weapons out of instinct as she sensed the air change. Natara sat up and a seriousness Natasha hadn't yet seen came over her. Just like that the blonde in front of her was the assassin who was more dangerous than any she'd known.
"What?" Natara asked. She wasn't doing this. Didn't care if they threw her back in a cell. "I changed my mind. I'm not helping."
"Too late," Tony quipped and her nostrils flared.
Rage flashed through her as the blatant arrogance. Thinking he could tell her what to do and when to do it. Her anger became a living thing and she was very aware of Natasha Romaoff whose hand was now resting on her gun. "I'm not doing it."
Tony smirked. "Why? You scared of the little witch?"
"What does she do to your mind?" Natara asked. Gone was the playfulness and arrogance. Gone was the boredom and pride. The woman in front of them now was the woman who had killed all of the people her file said she had-- though it had missed a few-- and gotten away with it. Gotten away with it because no was was good enough to stop her.
